Next try :)

The Track still needs some tweaks (especially the minimoog) and somte mastering. But maybe you are interested already...

i quite like this.

the heavily reverbed percussion noises (pipes ?) sound quite dark and menacing which works well with the pad sound. it builds up into quite a nice groove by the time the minimoog? comes in at about 3:30mins.

i agree that you perhaps need to do some tweaking on the minimoog to breathe a bit more life into it but i like the ideas so far and it seems to keep my attention.

cheers,

steve.

Yes, thats the minimoog.

"i agree that you perhaps need to do some tweaking on the minimoog to breathe a bit more life into it"

Exactly. I am not totally satisfied at the moment with the sound of the moog.

"but i like the ideas so far and it seems to keep my attention."

Thack you, steve.

Was this one you did in Orion, or no?

Sounds great, either way, just curious. Really like the percussion in this.

The results speak for themselves.

As I am hearing this now; here's perhaps a few pointers to take this further.

It seems to my ears you have put some detune/stereo widener on the minimoog to get it on top of the tune a bit more. What you can do is: find the frequencies where the most emphasis on the mm is-put a little extra resonance on these places, and cut the eq on those frequencies in the pads. This will allow the minimoog to shine through without having to push the volume or using wideners. Then it can come through more naturally.

For the pads some (occasional) modulated slow movement will help sway the feel a bit more (sweepie for instance, or what I use a lot is the obertone filterbank).

Emmmm; I very much like what I am hearing MonO.

And indeed some very tasty and tempered percussion.

Do carry on :D

Mystahr, no, i didnt use a widener in any case. I only raised some frequencies for the moog-arp.

Well this leads me to question, where i need your help guys. I listenend to the track on 2 different setups (PC/HIFI) and realized, that the strength of the moog-arp (and the loudness) on the hifi system is much more agressiv than on the pc-setup. in the case of the hifi-setup the moog is almost way too loud and seems sometime to disturb the flow of the track.
so my question is:
in your setup, do you feel the arp-moog to be too agressiv or loud in combination with the used pads?

thanks in advance.

Post

ah and Mystahr.

the pad from the beginning is a minimoog too. and i have to say i hate to add something like an lfo or stuff like that to make it "move". i simply love the playin deep sound of the moog and really dont like to add some movement elements. you know what i mean?
the plain deep moog is that what i like.
or do you mean the 2nd pad in the middle of the track (raising into the break)?

to answer your question, here it sounds quite ok (although winamp's output passes through SB Live... shame, shame, shame, i know... :D )

the most odd is the hard panned (hit hats???) that sound very 'off mix' but that's ok with the headphones.

trying to avoid the words 'cool and 'nice' i'll just say i like this track very much. :D
