One of the music shops up here has one. I fell in love with it.

Billy Gibbons uses 8s. he seems to do all right.hibidy wrote:The E-II is a stunning beauty. No pics as I don't have a image account any longer. Weird though, the strings feel like 8's on it

new E-II ST-2
-Tone: 10/10. Incredible. Blows my other guitar away TOTALLY.
-Looks: 10/10. Just beautiful.
-Craftsmanship: 8/10. A couple of issues. For one, the first string clinks off the frets kinda easy. Not HUGE but still a slight concern. Also (and this is no big for someone in the know) there is a bit of unfinished neck work (satin wise) one the thumb end/first couple of frets. Nothing major, but all problems noted.
-"Real Floyd Rose" : Pleasure so far (knocks on wood) The arm stays put it seems.
-Action/setup: Amazing out of the box
I mean, the action is SO LOW it's uncomfy in some ways, but bliss in others. No real buzzing.
-Hell/upper frets: This is the one thing that might have me send it back. Despite a rounded heel, and a recessed joint, it's not very easy for me to play a blues lick/bend (so far) for B (the highest a 22 fret guitar will go) No sure about this one.
The Three problems I mentioned may/may not be all I find. If that is it, it's likely to be the gem I've been hoping for. But not sure about the heel.

It's here!! My 70's Tribute Gibson SG arrived yesterday. As it was bitter cold I had to fight urge to rip right into the box. Soooo after letting it warm up to room temp.....the unboxing began!!

I have a Rogue Jersey Lightning lap steel coming, should atrrive here tomorrow. I understand it's several notches above Rogue's beginner-level instrument, but it's discontinued so mine's a used one.

I've never played steel, so it'll be an adventure. Should sing a lot better with my ebow than my fretless bass does, though!
