Anyone else use the combination successfully?
Which version of the plugin are you using? And, which operating system do you use?

Sure, I tried both of the ones from this site:

https://sites.google.com/site/mlvst0/

And I'm using windows 7

Thanks!
Thanks for clarifying.

As the new version (version 2) of PG-8X is on it's way and will be released soon, I am no longer supporting the old SynthEdit version.

Please, try the latest beta version (link is below) and let me know whether that works with LMMS. Please note, however, that the old fxb banks are no longer compatible. On the dropbox, you also find some banks (.syx or .pg8xBank) for the new version.

Hey man, In LMMS I loaded the presets.syx recorded some MIDI, sounds fantastic!

I think I have to do some more testing according to some steps on the LMMS forum, I have to look into that but so far so good

the only thing I noticed so far , everything seems an octave or 2 down, is there a hidden setting somewhere?

You mean in comparison to other VST's playing the same notes?

There is no hidden switch. The only thing is the UNISON2 mode, which doubles the notes by adding one octave below the played note.

Otherwise, check the settings for DCO range and also the DCO TUNE. Both will affect the pitch you hear.

I will test next week, when I am back at home. Right now I am travelling and only have my Macbook with me.

A screenshot for Martin. (Latest changes, as explained in the PM.)

Note: The BG is just another idea i toyed with in an attempt to recreate this really odd noisy-brown which seems to look different on every picture you see. Im not at all convinced though, so this is definitely subject to change. The main point of this screenshot is only to show the latest changes, i.e. shorter sliders, indicator lines replaced with indicator dots, some position adaptations, etc. A lot of details still have to be taken care of and will be in due course.

It's a bit too red in hue now perhaps!

Post

I love it! To me the UI is totally fine now except for the three blue 'membrane buttons' which are too dark to easily read the text on it (in particular compared to the red and yellow ones). That said, on my real JX8P the contrast on the blue buttons are also low in contrast. With the PG8x you may choose either authentity or improvement on the original design. :-)
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

I have a calm and pleasant impression of this one, very conducive to editing work and I like the warm grey tone.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Yeah, its a drama with that color tone.

It also stands and falls with the glare you put on, meaning you cant just use a single color even if you slap on a lot of noise.

Anyhow, after looking through my idea-pile again i think i will probably go with this grey i tried with one of the earlier pre-resize versions. (Since Martin doesnt mind a darker BG.) Maybe a bit brighter than that, i will have to see how this looks with the larger BG.

I'm fond of cyan as a colour per se, but for editing, I much prefer a tone that's on the warm side of neutral grey.

I would love to make it as authentic as possible, but that stupid noisy-brown tone is so difficult to recreate its unreal.

As for the membranes, they will be made to match the real synth. Im not sure yet what picture to use for reference but im sure the endresult will be fine.

Just need to take care of the more basic things first...you know...sizes, positions, all that stuff.

But you already managed to recreate it :)

That bg was spot on!
Thats the one i made after your images.

Unfortunately it also happens to be the one i like the least, (as far as the basic color tone goes), because the parts that are not captured by the glare almost make it look like some military device.

So at the very least i would have to make this area a good bit brighter. Theres also no noise on it yet, so that would have to be added too. (Because the real programmer is extremely noisy, see shot below.)

BTW, notice how this one looks like a 100 times redder?

That one seems to have more of a purplish hue over here! :)

It's really a bitch of a material, I agree!
