They're moving into childcare?

I think reFX. As pompous and overpriced as an Ithing.

They pick "reolutionary" products, so they can create WOW factor to sell their stuff. Majority of those companies wouldn't make sense. NI would, becouse it's huge. U-he would, becouse there's no stuff similar to his on the market. Other than that, I think Apple wouldn't be interested. I hope they won't buy anyone next. I really don't want to migrate to MAC. I'd do it for the U-he stuff probably, as the Zebra is my workhorse, but ... it would s*ck anyway.

It's such a shame...

Apple used to be really nice when the Beatles owned it.

These users helped the business succeed enough to warrant a purchase by Apple, and it seems a bit cruel to throw those same users by the wayside. Such is life though, in the business world.
I think it's more than half the userbase, isn't it? Does anybody have figures on how many people use Logic vs all the other PC DAWs combined?

You forgot to add KvR

Flash!
Linux buys out Apple.
The world turns regardless.
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

Maybe something to consider;
If Camel's user base was so heavily tilted in favour of PC users, how come they have (allegedly) sold to Apple?

Post

I didn't see Microsoft on that list.

Steinberg. VST technology belongs to them.
Put your hands on it and you are the leader of the market. ;)

"repost" from other thread.

First, I told you so. :-P

Second, Apple is VERY specific and picky. They hit camel for many of the right reasons from a strategic vantage. A company like U-he is NOT a target for apple because U-he have too may products in their line at this point. Although everyone does have their price, I'm pretty sure Urs has too much vested in his company at this point to be a reasonable acquisition as well. I get the impression that he is the kind of guy that is always tinkering with something, so he would most likely start another company that would become another competitor that had more capital at that point = bad decision for apple. He isn't really competition for apple either....never going to happen.

I would say the same about NI but at this point they have gone sample based and have all their eggs in one tidy little basket. It also overlaps many of the same areas apple is getting involved with...sample manipulation. I could see NI at this point, and those guys have been around long enough to want to move on and try something else maybe. They might feel like it's time to cash in. Apple will evaluate how many products NI is actually involved in, and if they are a competitor, and if the move eliminates a competitor, and if it's technology they can use. It has to hit ALL these check marks.
