hey mate,

i analysed MACH binaries a few weeks ago, the binaries are really different from eachother and apple wont allow to build an emulator for anything from their OS.
they even block to emulate OSX in VMs (VB and VMWare), to say it short, they are a-holes about keeping the funding running, so that everybody buys their overpriced hardware to use their OSX only software, they bought somewhere, yes they never really code something themselves. (only steves OS on which OSX is based, was coded self, the other software was aquired, because it cheaper and you can force poeple to buy your hardware.)

That won't happen because Apple won't sell more Macs if they support a Windows version, people will just use a PC. If it's a Mac-only program, you obviously will need to buy one of their Macs to use it, and then Apple makes a whole lot more money.
I wouldn't say a whole lot more money, who here would buy a Mac JUST to use Alchemy? There are plenty of other great VSTs, and I've heard nothing from Alchemy that makes me think I couldn't live without it (which doesn't mean to say I don't think it's good, just that there are plenty of other great synths out there, which I can use instead.)

You misunderstand Apple's buying strategies. Urs is *absolutely* a "target" for Apple - they have approached him before, and it's nothing really to do with his product catalog or marketing strategy - it's about talent and expertise, with some additional benefits of an existing codebase should they want to create some new products quickly.

But it's mostly about talent. It's *hard* to find high level experienced developers of the quality that Apple need.
Dasheesh wrote:Apple will evaluate how many products NI is actually involved in, and if they are a competitor, and if the move eliminates a competitor, and if it's technology they can use. It has to hit ALL these check marks.
Apple purchases are *all* about strategy and talent. It's usually not about the existing products unless it gives them a head start in a space they want a product in - in this case, then they buy a company and, using it's development team and with Apple resources turn it's product into iTunes, or Final Cut Pro (not X), or Motion, or Logic Pro etc, which all had an independent product at their core.

For anyone who thinks Apple are interested in the audio plugin market, forget it. This is a company that already bought Logic, which had all it's key FX and instruments as separate purchases, and removed the (working) dongle protection, bundled all the FX and instruments in for free (worth much more than the cost of Logic at the time - which was still pricey on its own) and dropped the price.

Exactly the same reaction: Sonicbytes had to drop their products without a warning and was not allowed to say anything. I never heard or saw anything from NI that could count as a replacement for Phrazor.

Given this story I tend to question if Alchemy will ever reappear.
You might want to get your facts straight there, NI never bought Sonicbytes at all, the developer quit to go and work for NI, big difference, Sonicbytes products are still maintained (yeah right) by sugarbytes

I assume black-and-white rather than brownish-and-yellowish ...or it likely won't make significant difference ?

It starts to sound like Alchemy's artificial ventilation... :help: but, AFAIK the Camels are sadly dead already.

The great thing about this is:

now finally more and more people get their eyes opened and start to see Apple for what it actually is: the devil.
