Again, it's hard to stay mad at Camel forever.....because everyone has their price, but I would hope that some developers would have a VERY difficult time in selling to a company that would eradicate half of its user-base of ever using its favorite products again. These users helped the business succeed enough to warrant a purchase by Apple, and it seems a bit cruel to throw those same users by the wayside. Such is life though, in the business world.

I think it's more than half the userbase, isn't it? Does anybody have figures on how many people use Logic vs all the other PC DAWs combined?

Maybe something to consider;
If Camel's user base was so heavily tilted in favour of PC users, how come they have (allegedly) sold to Apple?

First, I told you so.

Second, Apple is VERY specific and picky. They hit camel for many of the right reasons from a strategic vantage. A company like U-he is NOT a target for apple because U-he have too may products in their line at this point.

Well done for guessing right, but it wouldn't be impossible for Apple to buy up ALL of the major VST companies, thus forcing all of us to buy Macs if we want new VSTs.

Luckily there are lots of develpers who strive to create best plugins for affordable price.

You had plenty of years to try and buy Alchemy. If you didn't do it then, you likely weren't going to do it this year, or next year either. You've lost nothing that you valued.

Yeah, you're right. When emagic was selling Logic 5, Logic costs about £700. Space Designer was £450. The ES2 was £200. And so on, meaning a full Logic software system cost somewhere in the region of over three grand.

Logic Pro X has all of that, and way way way much more, and costs £150.

Yeah, they really do rinse their userbase for cash, don't they?

For most of the developers I talk with, plugin sales are roughly a 50/50 split between Windows and OSX, with maybe a slight lean towards OSX. Windows VST is the largest single format, but not the majority of sales.

As an OSX user that actually surprises me a bit. With the way everyone talks around here it seemed like 5% of people were buying software for OSX. Interesting.

KVR skews towards Windows. I conducted a quick poll (http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5960611), and Windows was used by about 66% of the KVR users that responded.
