NI. Why f^&ck around if the Alchemy experiment goes well?? They've got the checkbook. Alchemy was a drop in the bucket. If they want to go in this direction, integrating NI and shutting down all of it's VST's would consolidate Apple as THE audio platform. If you're gonna be evil, you might as well go for it, right?
I've got to agree. If I'm Apple, I buy NI, U-he, Valhalla...then I charge only $99 for Logic. I include all aforementioned products with Logic (let people download as many or few as they want). While I'm at it, maybe buy-out Motu, make it Mac-only and sell the hardware at cost. People will migrate in droves.

That's a pretty unscientific figure - "most of the developers I talk with" - what does that mean? What percentage of the VST market do they have between them? 50%? 10%? 90%? Maybe I'm wrong, but as a non-Mac user (and never will be), I don't even know what Logic looks like, let alone what it's like to use.valhallasound wrote:For most of the developers I talk with, plugin sales are roughly a 50/50 split between Windows and OSX, with maybe a slight lean towards OSX. I hear they once asked u-he founder Urs for his CV he turned them down.
Apple are massive right now they earn 8 million pounds per hour mostly from iphones. They are building a massive new HQ in the US and another in Ireland. I think this and next year they will gobble up a few companies.
My money is on Apple buying a car company next maybe a car battery or electric car motor manufacturer next.

Not really, they still not have eliminate the important multithreading bug in Logic or?People will migrate in droves.
Why someone should switch to such a sequencer? I know the workarounds but that didn't work well anyway.
People don't believe everything is golden over there..

They will have to buy steinberg from yamaha, protools, ableton, presonus, etc At that point monopoly laws will prevent it to go further.

He simply made an observation and stated it. He probably didn't realize that it required detailed charts and financial disclosures to be allowed into the conversation.basslinemaster wrote:That's a pretty unscientific figure - "most of the developers I talk with" - what does that mean? Should also be a "I'm a hypocrit with a /Who cares/ attitude to try and look cool (but I open and post in the thread I'm supposedly not giving a shit about nonetheless)" option...werp wrote:Should be a 'Who cares?' option.
...of course THAT wouldn't have fit in the poll column very well.

Ow, tough one that!ftech wrote:Maybe something to consider;
If Camel's user base was so heavily tilted in favour of PC users, how come they have (allegedly) sold to Apple?
Let's see, mmmh...
How about: "Because Apple offered them more money than they could ever hope to make from their PC users in a lifetime?"
DUH?!!!
Next question (smart one if possible this time, plz)
