And the fact that you never had to pay for your license (when at one point it was quite clearly a significant purchase for small design studios) is that a reflection of how you see the product's actual worth, and by extension, any work made with that product?

And yet I have spent countless hours of my own time creating on-line tutorials and solving users questions on various forums, where several others with my level of experience with the product choose to keep their help to commercial training DVD's and books so I feel that I have the moral high-ground there as well.

You maybe have 'a' moral high ground, but its in not the same particular area as I asked about, so I dont consider it particularly relevant. As far as 'solving users questions on various forums' I think I'm on a pretty good moral high ground as well, so would that be adequate justification in your eyes for selling SE-made plugins? I doubt it, so I really dont think its a justification for a stance against it either.

Lets try it another way. You've said you worked in the fast-food industry, yes? Presumably you took advantage of the usual combination of cheap, mass-produced ingredients, and cheap, relatively unskilled workers in order to produce whatever it was you were selling? You were there for several years, you couldnt have had any major moral objection to it, and presumably what you were producing ensured that the company made a decent profit. I mean you didnt grown the tomatoes or the meat or make the flour or whatever, but you did use them to construct something which you then charged more money for than you actually paid out? Surely?
