hey Durk me on the verge of shopping for a souncard too... FOr u just saw online that Emu has launched another card E-MU 0404. Analof I/O SPDIF MIDI onbloard DSP etc. $99 only... i cheked out the mp3 samples of the wave files processed with there DSP. Im either no good or they gotta be kidding.. think i liked the original over all the processed files.

However for 99$ i think its a good deal...

Hi guys and girls!

I'm in a little need here... I want to replace my SBLive with something better, but no too expensive.

I ran an SBLive! on my computer for about 5 years.. and while it was sturdy and never failed me.. I felt it was time to move on..

I picked up the M-audio Revolution 7.1 it seems to have a better chipset than the 24/96 but (and its a big but ) i doesnt have any midi inputs or outputs.. I have a midi keyboard that I use the onboard midi controller (on my motherboard) so I can play..

so I dont think it would suit your needs..

it does however have full asio support which is nice.. all the way down to 64 samples.. no more poopy kx drivers! (I know, I used them for awhile too)

my suggestion would be not to worry so much about the sound quality.. in all honesty just about anything is better than the Sblive! in terms of quality these days.. I was amazed at the quality I got with the Revo even with my cheapo headphones.. no more bg static when I turned up the volume. I can only be assured that its better with a more quality sound system..

so (imo) look more towards features and support policy/driver stability than sound quality.. in truth most of the cards out there today sound real good..

I was kind of scared leaving the creative line of cards at first (only brand soundcards I've owned since the sb ..2 or pro?) but all of my games run with the revo.. im pretty sure they would play on the terratec line (aureon etc - same chipset)

Same story here, my SBLive is 6 years old...

It's either going pretty cheap (Terratec Aureon 7.1 Space) or going a bit better, ESI Juli@, E-MU 1212M, etc. But I'm not sure yet.

What about running more ASIO applications at the same time with the M-audio Revolution 7.1? Is this implemented in the drivers?

€158 for julia, or
€211 for 1212m.

also, found already some testing on that Julia card, unfortunately it seems to be polish-only text but i found also site called poltran.

Ah, I know that store, they've got a Echo MiaMIDI for €179 too.

€211 for 1212m.

And I thought audio cards were expensive in the Netherlands. €149 for the Juli@ and €199 for the 1212M... So if you live near the border...

Anyway, I guess there's too less competition.

Okay guys... on my keyboard is laying a 1212M.... I couldn't resist... I just jumped on my bike and cycled to the shop. They were pleased to sell me the last piece.

I'll wait till I've got my Athlon 64 processor and board before trying this 1212M... hmm too bad..
