I have had the original Ipad for the past 4 years. I keep it on a speaker dock so the battery is still hardly used. I am wondering how people these days are using the Ipad in their musical lives and if I should go out and buy a new one. I know there is a lot of software I can't use on my old Ipad. Please let me know how you use yours these days and if you think an upgrade is worth it.
For me, there is a songwriting app that I want to use but can't because my ios is out of date. I don't see any sense of spending several hundred dollars just for that, though....
Should I buy a new Ipad?

Animoog is worth getting the newer iPad, methinks (unless it runs in the old iPad in which case, jackpot). It costs $40 bucks and worth every penny. iPad might serve as a pretty cool external 'hardware' synth.

I actually have some very cool synths on the original Ipad. I'll check out Animoog. I don't think a cool synth is going to be enough to sway me because I don't play much keyboard.
Edit: I checked out Animoog. Way cool. How much of a learning curve?

much of the apps will force you into an ios upgrade that won't be supported on your current model. further to that, any thoughts of running apps via audiobus etc are going to call for more power than you currently have
