That's because this community rocks.
Yep. The essence of OSC and why I`m addicted to join

@jasinski:
Wow, thanks a lot  You can continue with that :D

To all who are making patches for our OSC bank:
Please add metadata to your presets, otherwise Soundgoddess has to do it and I think she does already enough for us
Before you save the preset click on the preset tab and add:
Author: Your user name
Bank: OSC #73
then please mark Instrument type, Attributes and Music Style. After this is done just save the preset. The metadata will be added to the preset then and Soundgoddess just needs to put it all together then.

I have downloaded the updated bank and listened the presets already. Wow that`s just great!!!

Yep, we could need toms. I will try Jasinski`s recipe later. Seems that we still have got time to add more presets and honestly: That`s really great fun programming with Synthmaster :D

Cheers
Yvonne
This would have been great info to have before I actually made the banks. LOL.
 I supposed you all know this!!!!! Soundgoddess asked us to do this just a couple of posts ago

That would be great :)

A couple of posts ago was long after I made my first 2 sets yesterday. It's hard keeping up with things in a 17 page thread.

Some thoughts on creating snare drums:

There are three basic components to a snare sound. The strike of the stick on the drum head, the resonance from the drum body, and the vibration of the chains on the underside of the drum as seen here: http://www.drumatix.com/Snare%20Drum%20 ... upra1b.jpg

If you want to synthesize a believable snare you need to think about how you will replicate these three components. This is really just the beginning as you can get a lot more creative with effects or experimentation but these basic concepts will give you a solid start.

I usually recreate the three components synthetically like this:
The initial 'thwack' of the stick by modulating pitch or filter with an envelop set to a very short decay.
The resonance of the body I recreate with a tonal oscillator (usually a sine wave is all you need).
The chain I usually recreated with white noise.

I like to modulate amplification of the tone and noise separately as this gives me finer control over how they interact. Between these three components you can get quite a lot of variation just by modulating the attack and decay times of each component. Note that often the of change in modulation times or amounts is very small and subtle but makes big difference to the over all feel.

If you have a graphical eq that shows you the frequency spectrum of your sound (like Live's EQ 8), throw that on there to see where your snare shows up. A rule of thumb that I picked up is that the tone of the snare should be around 200 hz and the snap should be around 2000 - 2500 hz. You can tune your snare using your graphical eq and also to what sounds good in your mix.

Hope that helps someone out there!

PS: Concerning the Author name it is equal if you write "Steven Wagenheim" or "Wagtunes" but to add the name of the Soundbank: OSC #73 is very important so that we will find all these patches in this bank.

Indeed! The snare preset I provided has macro controls for these, too. So hopefully with some EQ + limter, player users can get pretty far creating a snare they like.

Yep  This thread almost grows as fast as the Camel Audio thread

To all who are writting pm`s to me and such at the moment........please wait. I`ll get back as soon as I have got the chance to.

What the... :o Wow that are a lot. Yep of course we can need them :D
Tons of drum patches and other intresting stuff :D

I hope you agree that we may put it to our OSC bank, please confirm. If "yes" I suppose that I will have to help Soundgoddess to format the presets because for this job one needs a team
Yes, :tu: you can do that, thanx

I thank you

Okay I will contact Soundgoddess for to coordinate the work. Will take a while to upload them all I suppose. I haven`t count them, but I guess that are around 80 patches? Or even more.

This OSC Bank will be awesome in the end :wheee:

We all will benefit from it :)

I've updated the consolidated sound bank here:
http://soundgoddess.me/OSC.zip

I've marked everyone's patches as OSC #73 so they all show up under that bank. I excluded two of the JKFlashico patches that appear to be sample-based...happy to re-add them if they aren't.

I already went thru the effort of updating the bank for everything that's been posted here so far, so unless it's a brand new patch that hasn't been posted yet, just download this update instead of duplicating efforts :)

And if I miss anything let me know, this thread is pretty busy so it's hard to keep track of all the posts, LOL.

And thanks so much to Mojo42 :) BTW if you want to rename the patches that's fine by me, just PM me to coordinate. I'm okay with the patches being named whatever, so long as they show up in a single bank so folks know where to look.

hrm...for some reason I can't seem to save new presets anymore, SM just crashes on me. Not sure how to debug this, it's annoying. I guess I'll try reinstalling *shrugs*.

Edit: it seems like I can save presets in the 32-bit version but not the 64-bit one, even after reinstalling. 64-bit version let me save presets just fine the other day, so I'm not sure what could have changed. My 32-bit version is older though, version 2.6.15.

Okay, I have another bank of 20 electronic tom-toms. I've marked each bank OSC #73.

What am I supposed to do with it? Do I just upload it as it is or do I download the existing OSC #73 zip and add these patches to it? If I do the latter and somebody does the same thing at the same time or before I get a chance to reupload the zip to this thread, we are going to end up with missing patches, which is what usually happens when you have multiple users doing this.

So what's the procedure just so we're all on the same page?

Post

Just upload the new presets. They'll be collected.

Okay, here you go. 20 electronic toms.

Hey!

Here's a quick preview of part of the track I am working on for this OSC. It has my approx. drums in it, but they work quite well against the lead.

Looking forward to putting some decent perc onto the track.

What a community this is. And well done Brian for throwing a "curve ball" at us!
