Best Modular DAW?

the audio mod / audio receiver for example could be combined with just any other device. Even note receiver and so on, so that will be quite flexible i think.

Mustn't forget Reaper is basically modular under the surface (using a matrix approach rather than cables but it achieves the same end result).

Bars and Pipes was modular
Sequitur based on this program was also modular
midi only though

Sorry. my badspacedad wrote:oh,i didn't realise he was asking for 64bit.
I didn't read the first post and seeing that he refers to Jeskola buzz i guess 32bit is ok
But i guess that xt is rarely mentioned anymore because of it being only 32 bit and most people have moved to 64bit
Comparing J.Buzz with XT is actually a good idea and in that regard XT is the best option

Well it's only just caught up with multicore at version 3. Let's hope 64 bit doesn't take as long. As an eXT owner myself I think it's the glacial pace of progress that is the biggest reason for people losing interest.D-Fusion wrote:Sorry. my badspacedad wrote:oh,i didn't realise he was asking for 64bit.![]()

Uhh Tracktion?
Sure looks modular when you wrap a plugin up in the rack

In my case I have been experimenting quite a bit with Mulab.
It's probably my best alternative (affordable with loads of features) since I will rely on VST for synth and FX (although Mulab has basics for synths, reverb, delays, chorus etc..)
For the rest, Mulab has everything (a musician) would need to get the show going with midi (drum pads, key splits, note assign/trigger notes, trigger sequences etc..) and effect routing.
While MUX being very cool, Mulab in itself is modular at the top level meaning that midi (notes, tracks) can be pointing directly to devices in the modular tab without loading MUX every time.
There is plenty of audio files support in there as well.
Give it a shot there is a free demo!

These are old threads but may still be relevant.Kalamata Kid wrote:For the record:

I see it is only a stand-alone. So this is ruled out by me.
Buze

Apparently this is also a stand-alone and not a VST or VSTi.
Correct me if I am wrong.

You missed it.jens wrote:No mention of Reaper yet?
And whilst you can wire a few things together, it's not as flexible as something like MuLab, where you just say "Ah stuff it, let me get at the wiring" and away you go. (And that goes for most of the built-ins, too - they're built in MuX.) (And M7 - in test - brings sample-rate modulation... so you can use audio files to modulate your VSTs... Mm, FM

Ah, yes, missed it...
sample-rate modulation sounds good...
Reaper - amongst some other things (such as extensive modulation options for every plugin-parameter) - offers true feedback routing though - afaik no other modular host has this - am I mistaken?
