We changed the rules several times at this point and settled with "the client has the final word". And it worked the best so far.szalonykp wrote:I think that you maybe should change the Challenge rules to make sure the outcome of the competition will be more as you want it to. Or make the organizers to pick winners.
And of course to make it obligatory that the song provider is happy with the final mixes.

Our pool ran dry and we need to work on one track (re-recording certain parts) to have better editing possibilities. Can't give a definite starting date however.
And this is also basically a cry for help - if you have a song that you'd love to see mixed by the excellent talents of the KVR Mix Challenge, then please get in touch with us through KVR, or Twitter @KVRMixChallenge .
EDIT 09-03-2015:
Edited half of the entry to redirect the focus to questions and overall feedback regarding the challenge.

We just got back this morning & I was surprised to see that my mix had made the top three.
Then I noticed that, perhaps, so was everyone else.
I do have a couple of comments to make, though, as I am not sure that the intention of the competition is particularly clear.
Three things about this competition -
First, it was great fun. This was the second time I have ever mixed anything (thanks to my brother for lending me his computer), and if it were not for my grandmother getting sick, I would have loved to have put more time/effort into it. I hope to be able to get involved next time.
Second, I appreciate the feedback from szalonykp and Compyfox. There is no better way for me to learn than to try, fail, and understand why I failed.
I am wondering, however, if it would make sense to change the competition a little. If the point of it is to learn, it might make more sense to have weekly deadlines where everyone gives critisism and then the client chooses the winner at the end of the month. Just a thought.
Finally, treatment of the client.
With all of the attention you gave to "the client" in your commentary, and your clear need for more material upon which the next contest will be performed, it seems strange that you are not considering how you are presenting yourself & the challenge.
szalonykp was a class act all the way through this & gave great feedback more than once. He should have been your top priority, not your feelings.
I for one, came here to learn and had a really good time trying to mix szalonykp's song.
Thank you for the opportunity and have a nice weekend.

Do you think that it is good, from the point of view of a person considering allowing others to remix their track, that you just spent several hundred words panning the entries and then call the people who did them "excellent"?Compyfox wrote:Our pool ran dry and we need to work on one track (re-recording certain parts) to have better editing possibilities. This is not a "song cafe" feedback type thing - this is a challenge with clear rules.mkd wrote:I am wondering, however, if it would make sense to change the competition a little. The client gives the feedback, not we. This backfired in the first three challenges, so we had to change the rule set.
