Anybody else find the way he went on about the whole being plied with alcohol and waking up "full of shame because you don't know what you did" a little suspicious? Methinks the lady doth protest too much! If you don't know what you did why would you be full of shame... I suspect somebody knows exactly what he did and probably doesn't like to admit he enjoyed it!

Exactly. It's kind of pathetic that he can't see how he's giving himself away. You see this kind of thing in satire sometimes but it's rare to see it happen so obviously in real life.

How about a list of vsti that are better than alchemy to cause apple to have a case of indigestion?

Omnisphere so far is obviously far superior and as others will now take a crack at duplicating alchemy's feature set that # surely grows. The market has a vacuum in it with their leaving the market and I can see this inspiring the competition to now come out with those features that made alchemy so loved.

For different types of sounds there are many which are far superior to camels product in certain types of categories of sounds.

Leads I would rarely use Alchemy and actually there are so many other vsti probably 40 to 50 that I would rather use for a lead patch.

Pads seem to be alchemy's main strength and lets face it there are so many pad vsti that if I need a pad I have almost as many to choose from so depending on what I am looking for there is almost as much variety and in the long run I can use them instead and spend way less money.

The only other sound categories are real instruments and or subsets of the 2 types above or just FX and atmospheres which are somewhat less important and less useful than pads and leads which tend to be the majority of the sounds I play with.

Now don't get me wrong I love atmospheric and FX sounds but I am 95% of the time playing leads and pads and or real instruments using a sampler type of vsti.

Alchemy was good but it was far from being my next vsti to buy. My wish list had a good 20 something vsti on it before you got to the name alchemy.

First, 'superior', like 'best', is quite subjective... but the simple fact that Omni can't do all that Alchemy does is a clear sign that it can only be your favorite for what it can do. And it doesn't do it for me really. Alchemy has plenty of analog/digital: pads, leads, rhythmic, arps, soundscapes, basses and others with a character of its own.

I can also think of many VIs that top Omni for me. (Do I get a cookie too?)
But whatever replaces Alchemy for me, clearly doesn't exist yet.

I think we all lost the plot when we started creating categories for synth sounds. When I'm recording, I like to name my tracks the way they sound: "wherr", "plinky", "ding dang", "squeeeuell"....
