AKAIK, most of our users are felling good with our licensing system. Due to popular demand and listening to many users feedback, we now support the machine-based authorization since January 10th, 2014, and we provide up to 3 concurrent per license for any products registered after March 25th, 2014. So I guess we now have the most friendly licensing system
Any user having issues with his licenses simply needs to contact our Customer Support through the online form :

No UVI user has been left so farEven if an activation is lost due to a hard drive failure, we send a new license.
Let me know if there is anything I can clarify.

Same here. I contacted their "support" and have been completely ignored. They keep sending me discount codes for products but what good does that do when the stuff I have isn't working properly?

Well, you might have more years of experience than me - but I'm not far behind you. My bloody beard is turning white - but I'm not blaming that on the iLok. Yetwagtunes wrote:DrGonzo wrote:So if you're going to claim iLok is bad because it works off a dongle that might go bad, do yourself a favor and toss your PC in the trash and go to a hardware studio because as long as you're relying on computers and software for your business, you're treading on thin ice.
I am speaking as someone who has been working on computers since 1975 and have seen more than my fair share of OS, crashes, deaths and what have you in 40 years.
I am looking forward to the day when I can retire and not have to worry about this crap anymore.
Personally - and a bit OT I guess - I think the solution is not to throw the computer in the trash, but rather disconnect yourself from the constant improvement-frenzy. My computer is running fine, my plugs are running fine - the DAW is not crashing etc etc. And then stick with it. After watching lots of interviews with highly creative people - many of them have a set of tools that is effin ancient and primitive, but they are still creating a huge impact. Tools are tools. And having fun with technology can at times almost be a separate matter.
But back to iLoks. As I said, the situation today is way better than ten years ago. Even if a dongle would break or get lost - some companies have ways to deal with that quickly. Waves for example let you "nuke" a dongle once up per year and transfer the licenses to a different location. This is all positive.
But if someone once had a disaster involving a dongle, I would totally understand why he/she would do everything to avoid them.
Once I went to a restaurant and ate a salmon. Not longer than one hour after eating it, I was I was having the worst throwing up in my life. Obviously the salmon was bad. And although I've only had one bad experience like that - it still took me more than one year to be able to even taste salmon again.
So I do not agree with you there. If someone have had a real disaster with iLok, I wouldn't call that irrational if they stay clear of them. I would call that a logical response.
You buy a computer with a WumpaCorp motherboard and all hell breaks loose. You probably stay clear of WumpaCorp motherboards again. No?

If I could have avoided to buy one, I would, too bad the soft-iLok didn't arrive earlier.Aloysius wrote:UVI - for the record, I was anti-iLok until I bought one.
iLok is a lot more expensive than eLicenser, and very poorly built. I have treated my iLok like porcelain, but yet the cap has managed to crack

UVI Doctor seems to be on the case just fine and has proven very helpful so far. It turns out UVI did in fact send me that email shortly after I contacted them. Please disregard my previous statements about them not replying to contact emails. Just hope they can sort me out and I can keep using the Plugsound Pro and Banks. Cheers

You can also do cinematic scores without EWQL and iLok, since there are plenty of substitues to EWQL. Just sayin'.

Yes, but all my PCs are custom made with the absolute best parts you can get. And guess what? They still go bad. Or your OS crashes, which mine has just done. Sure, a PC can last a long time. But some go after a few years. And there's no way to tell if you have one made like a tank or a grapefruit.DrGonzo wrote:Well, you might have more years of experience than me - but I'm not far behind you. Just because I've had to replace about 5 or 6 PCs in 40 years doesn't mean I'm going to avoid them for the rest of my life, though there are times I wish I could. But it's part of the cost of doing business.

I just leave mine plugged in and it's holding up. My Steinberg eLicenser is getting a bit jaded though.Numanoid wrote:If I could have avoided to buy one, I would, too bad the soft-iLok didn't arrive earlier.Aloysius wrote:UVI - for the record, I was anti-iLok until I bought one.

Well, serial or keyfile protection like used by Image-Line, Plug & Mix, Valhalla, Fabfilter and some other great devs does.wagtunes wrote:
