You should look into MidiMux, Midi LE, Music IO for sending midi directly between your Mac and iPad. These solutions require no special hubs or cables and use the regular 30pin to USB or Lightning to USB cables from apple. They will provide a much more stable, low latency connection than wifi and support all control apps like Lemur and TouchOSC.

They are also incredibly cheap compared to using an iConnect or iRig device. Depending on your particular needs they could be exactly what you need. Soon these same apps will allow routing of audio as well as midi to and from your iOS devices.

PC versions are being worked on too!

Shouldn't be much longer until they are working for PC too! Hopefully not more than a couple months.

Yes - standard USB to Lightning or 30 pin.

Im on PC too and use an iConnectmidi4+ at the moment - it works very well but unless your looking to add multiple devices to the chain maybe overkill.
