A bit of a theoretical request here. Im not sure if you are familiar with aliasing and the Nyquist theory, but at certain sample rates if the audio reaches a certain high frequency (half the sample rate) aliasing can occur.
What if anti-aliasing could be built into energyXT? Theoretically, I think you could apply a hidden low pass filter to each instrument and effect output to prevent aliasing. For example, if the eXT sample rate is set to 44100Hz you could apply an approx 22000Hz low pass filter to each output. At 48000Hz the low pass filter would have a cutoff of 24000Hz and so on.
Is this possible, and do you think it would work? I was thinking about all the discussion about aliasing in certain instruments and effects (but samples can also be affected), so why not build in a "Anti-aliasing ON/OFF" menu item into the eXT setup? Surely tackling aliasing at the host level would be a solution for all instruments and effects?
The thing about aliasing is, you might not even be able to tell it's there (especially if you're new to audio production and have untrained ears) but it can happen to anyone working in the digital realm. Sometimes it can be a pleasing part of the sound, sometimes it sounds like a strange high frequency distortion.
Please correct me if this idea is stupid
