I am going to try to make this fun for everybody who participates.

I'm always looking for new soft synths to purchase. Problem is, there are just too many out there to try them all. I'd be listening to demos for weeks if not months.

So here's what I'd like all those who feel like participating in this thread to do. Recommend a synth that I don't have (I'll list the ones I do have in a moment) and tell me why I'd love it.

What's important to me?

1) Sound above all else. The more unique the better.
2) Programming. Must be extremely flexible with lots of modulations.
3) No more than $200.

Here is the list of paid synths that I have. If it's free, I probably either have it or chucked it.

There you go. Now wow me!

** EDIT ** The winner gets one of my soundbanks free.

MadronaLabs Aalto
AIR Loom

Otherwise I'd say you've got it well covered.

I tried Aalto and quite honestly, didn't like it. Not so much for the sound but I thought the layout was a mess. It was just way too foreign from anything I'd ever programmed and just couldn't get into it.

I will take a look at AIR Loom. Any particular reasons why you think I'd like it?

You don't have DUNE 2?  :-o :uhuhuh:

Have Padshop. Been thinking of upgrading to pro. For 10 bucks, seems like a no brainer. Probably will someday.

I see you previously mentioned Halion 5. At $349, that's way above my $200 limit, but thanks. I'm sure it's excellent.

zt3a+2 seems pretty good, I'm thinking of buying it whenever steam has another sale (they had it for $25 on one of their sales)

You should, the more I get into it the more interesting it gets. I'm making a bunch of patches now based on excerpts from Molly Bloom's soliloquy from Ulysses (these will be added to Excursions when done).

I have Discovery Pro and I don't think Corona will give me anything substantial that Discovery Pro already doesn't give me.

Yeah, I have it on my list but I've been putting it off because it's a CPU hog and I'm only running an I3. I did just recently get Bazille and absolutely love it. In fact I love every U-He synth that I have. Diva just looks like it might be more than my PC can handle comfortably.

Be sure to try DUNE 2, at least once. The unison engine is very unique, because it's not the usual average unison that you find in the rest of synths, but a multiple layer that allows for very complex timbres. Plenty of modulation options too, and it sounds sweet.

At least you should have Rhino by Big Tick Audio, it's one of the best synths and can even load custom waves! 8)
