you can blow a bankload on the current synths out now with all the bells and whistles, i prefer simple synths like synth1 and charlatan
that have great oscillators. then pipe them through great sounding dedicated effects on a shared fx bus to keep cpu usage down.
get your va's fm's pd's, additive synths and a good rompler (korg M1, Wavestation) and effects (Tal reverb2, chorusLX, dubdelay3, W1 limiter) and make some good music.... or, blow a bankload on synths with huge libraries that make you spend more time looking for a sound than making music.

I'm a little jealous, I'd love to own Serum and Omnisphere and Reaktor. But at least I do own SynthMaster, V-Collection, and Massive.
~ good luck ~

Up to 16x unison for each of the 4 oscillators! Now you can sell your lawnmower!wagtunes wrote:With all the U-He stuff that I already have, I just don't see what Hive gives me that Zebra 2 doesn't.bailees7irish wrote:Hive.
I absolutely love that synth!(p.s. I'm not a u-he fanboy - far from it actually - but Hive is currently my favorite VSTi)

This is very true. I've done whole tracks with free synths and FX. I also like to have variety. I don't spend tons of time going through presets. I usually know exactly what I want and just go program it. I've never had a synth that I paid for where I spent more time learning how to use it than actually making music with it except for Cycle because that thing is just so different from everything else on the planet. Even Omnisphere I pretty much conquered in a few hours.layzer wrote:you can blow a bankload on the current synths out now with all the bells and whistles, i prefer simple synths like synth1 and charlatan

So wasting time with synths isn't a concern for me.

Okay, Zebra 2 has 11x unison. That's good enough for me given all the things Zebra 2 has that Hive doesn't even come close to.Tricky-Loops wrote:Up to 16x unison for each of the 4 oscillators! But Zebra 2 doesn't have a "Dirty" mode!
Furthermore, Hive is addictive, people cannot stop making presets!

Yeah, I dunno. I don't think 16x unison and dirty mode alone is worth $99.Tricky-Loops wrote:But Zebra 2 doesn't have a "Dirty" mode!

hive for workflow but might as well get the superior sylenth if you go that route

variety is good. i got Dimension Pro a while back, thinking i was going to use it alotwagtunes wrote: I also like to have variety. I don't spend tons of time going through presets.
since i also got a bunch of 3rd party library that made the install size of the
vst almost 500gb in size on my hdd. yet, im find myself STILL going to my simple synths
dialing in the sounds instead of pulling Dimension Pro up. boils down to whatever works best for you, do it!

I disagree with the "Sylenth is superior" tag. I think Hive is superior in every way.Tjgoa wrote:hive for workflow but might as well get the superior sylenth if you go that route

Completely agreed here. Loom is amazing.mutantdog wrote:AIR Loom
If not that one then, like others have said:
Dune 2
Hive
Z3TA+ 2
I also see you don't have Alchemy. If you don't mind losing support for it soon, that'd be another good one to pick up. It is awesome.

It seems you have a liking for the more modular style synths, both of these have quite unique modular natures. Aalto's cable thing might seem odd but its very intuitive and the oscillators sound great, capable of being bent into sounds i just cannot make in anything else I own.wagtunes wrote: I tried Aalto and quite honestly, didn't like it. Not so much for the sound but I thought the layout was a mess. It was just way too foreign from anything I'd ever programmed and just couldn't get into it.
I will take a look at AIR Loom. Any particular reasons why you think I'd like it?
Loom takes more of a straight modules-in-sequence approach, its additive and unashamedly digital but with so many modules you can place in any order you really can do some wonderful things with it.

great collection I would want everyone of those.wagtunes wrote:I am going to try to make this fun for everybody who participates.
I'm always looking for new soft synths to purchase. Problem is, there are just too many out there to try them all. I'd be listening to demos for weeks if not months.
So here's what I'd like all those who feel like participating in this thread to do. Recommend a synth that I don't have (I'll list the ones I do have in a moment) and tell me why I'd love it.
What's important to me?
1) Sound above all else. The more unique the better.
2) Programming. Must be extremely flexible with lots of modulations.
3) No more than $200.
Here is the list of paid synths that I have. If it's free, I probably either have it or chucked it.

There you go. Now wow me!
As far as suggestions to add I would say Monark since you already have Reaktor. HELIX and Monark would run you less than $200 for both and you might have some left over for a cheapy like the Aly James or Memory moon stuff.
Also in consideration should try the following and looks like to me its just a matter of time till you get all the rest. Your an addict like the rest of us.
Poly KBII, hopefully you got Rapture in the magware deal they offered it free in CM. LUSH 101, Roland SH2, Polyana, Spectral, CRX4, Oddity2, Largo, Tassman, Oxium, Synthix, Minimonsta and of course DIVA, Dune 2, Z3ta and Spire were already mentioned.

keep your eye on the kvr marketplace, as 'reaktor' often goes for 100€/£/$. worth it at 4 times the priceSoundGoddess wrote:I'm a little jealous, I'd love to own Serum and Omnisphere and Reaktor. But at least I do own SynthMaster, V-Collection, and Massive.
