I have just recieved an email which suggests that I get a mention in this month's CM :)

Anyone got a copy? Could anyone scan that wee bit and post for me to get a swatch ?

I have a feeling that they printed my old URL, though - the email was a "problems downloading" email :(

no - it's really a shame that they usually don't mention all that fantastic free stuff (or at least not very much)
- magazines rather support the industry than the musician

That's true. And in my case CM mag doesn't give me issue 75+76 because my postman (drunk :D )did sent some mag a month ago back instead of delivering it to me. So instead of TELLING me anything, there are e-mails, are there ??? CM simply dropped my subscription :x :x. Cannot do anything, they don't send me the forthcoming one 76. Any good man from the UK who sends it to me will get the money immediately (wink), simply send me a pm :-))))))))), as I do like CM pretty much. At least they mentiones Ian Webster in one of the last mags, not sure which...
Well if they add some reviews of good freebies it would be fine, otherwise we'll have to do it here more :-).

Well, there was recently a ten or twelve page feature in CM dedicated to making songs with nothing but freeware... 8)

And I for one always try to use freeware in the articles I write, if I can...I use as much freeware as commercial stuff in my daily studio work, and I try to reflect that in the articles I write...

That's because the industry pays with their ads.
Simple but true.

Those who can do maths and those who can't.

I heard that I (as TenCrazy.com) got a mention (for my free MFX) in one of the mags recently, so maybe it was in that section?

I think such politics are not a big problem in these music mags. The biggest censorship here is probably the restraint to say negative things about anything, knowing an existing advertiser might pull ads, and a new client might go elsewhere.

Its similar to News on Television, the customer is the advertisers, yes, but more important the actual product being sold is You, the viewer.

Because of this, media has the survial instinct to provide the content that the reader wants.

Future Music and Electronic Musician both did detailed reviews on Devine-Machine and both gave us Editors' Choice award for 2004. We never gave either magazine a dime, so to me this speaks good things about these magazines, and hopefully our product too ;)

It wasn' that article, if I recall, but yeah, there has been at least one mention that I know of of your stuff. I can't remember which issue off the top of my head, though...

I've had a very fair run with at least 4 mentions in CM over the years (albeit some of them minor). I personally feel that they have got the balance about right.. I actually think that it is only right and proper that they should be an outlet for news about 'for sale' plugs and software. By its very nature free stuff doesn't 'need' pushing..
