Hypothetical Travelling Studio. What would yours be?

Over the coming months I'm going to be on the road even more than I am now so it got me thinking about the need to get a portable setup going.
Current thinking is as follow:
- Laptop running Live
- Mackie Blackjack Audio Interface
- Sennheiser 'phones (to double as listening/entertainment headphones)
- Volca Bass
- Korg NanoKontrol
- Akai LPK25
All of the above will fit nicely into a medium sized case.
So what would yours be?
(Forget budget, the thread is more for entertainment really)

no budget? a massive van, a driver and a generator.
then i could take my actual studio with me. id like to live in a van actually, would do if i could drive.

Assuming you had to fly everywhere and couldn't get place to place by van

I usually take a couple of harmonicas with me when I fly somewhere. Don't record anything, but no worries about anything getting broken as they stay in my pockets.

flying with no budget?
private plane with studio built in to it! boom!
ok ill play...
a digital hd recorder, 8 track
my monotribe and electribes
my roland sampler 404 thingy
hand held recorder for sampling n field stuff
my vurtbox drone machine
stylophone
is that better?
id also add a few of my pedals if i had space in a modest sized case.
incidentally, budget is irrelevant here as i already have all this stuff, except the case i guess

Right now, entirely coincidentally but abitrarily sat in a tesco paper bag, I have two Monotrons, a Monotron duo, a Monotron delay, an AudioWeevil07, a Weevil08, a Boardweevil and a Cubeweevil. That'd be a decent start, though the 'trons really need a bit of modifying.
Carrying on with the entirely battery-powered scheme of that, I'd add the two miniKaoss pads, the boss DD3 delay/sampler and a set of Patchblocks. Plus some cheap mics (including contacts, and voice coils), and the Zoom H4N.
That'd be an interesting PSU-less combo, and since I own that lot already, I know I could probably fit most of it in one of those aluminium briefcases from Maplins.
Something properly looper-y that's battery operated, would probably be more useful than the DD3, though. The JamMan Solo XT has the right sort of feature set, for example. And maybe also a Volca Sampler. But I'd have to buy either of those. Plus a basic passive mixer, maybe something DIY'd with banana interconnects for matrix/feedback use.
If I was to assume the availability of power, though, and more of a full-sized suitcase situation, I'd lose all the Monotrons (except for the Delay), and the two boxed Weevils, and add a Nord G2 Engine and a QuNeo, plus the EHX 2880 looper, and a pair of EHX Freeze pedals.
All combos play well with or without a laptop/iPad, though they'd be nice to have too, and make certain things more useful.
Cant help but think a suitcase full of Raspberry Pi 2 boxes all running Puredata would be mental.

Patch blocks, monotron duo(3), monotron delay(2), couple of small grundig sw receivers, and two hand built weird boxes. Plus the laptop running M4L ...

Geez, you guys have GAS even on the road.
Are you not thinking of your poor backs while lugging all this around?
Or perhaps because it's hypothetical you're assuming you'll be supplied with a free chauffer and/or an Asimo

it kinda depends. are you talking about 'travelling for some other purpose, but wanting some toys with you' or 'travelling with the specific aim of doing audio work wherever you get'.Mushy Mushy wrote:Geez, you guys have GAS even on the road.

i was sorta responding from the latter position. because that in itself would be pretty hypothetical, really.
for the former, i could manage easily with just an ipad or a laptop.

I did mean the former. Primary purpose of work (ie, business work not audio).
I have been managing on just a laptop but the sound is terrible. And this isn't in a pedantic audiophile way; there's a horrendous click on all transients once the volume exceeds about 50%. Below that level it's not really audible above any background noise. Hence the need for an external audio interface.
Then GAS struck

MacBook Air (w/Logic & Bitwig), Apogee One, and M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 completes my portable/couch setup. Actually, I only use the Apogee if I need to record something; otherwise, the headphone output works just fine.
