I dunno', I'm looking forward to it... It's a bit of an underrated synth imo.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Did you click the link in MillerSam's post?
Summary:

- Enhanced sound quality because the synthesis engine has been completely reworked
- Over 260 (=827-563) additonal patches
- Completely reworked all factory sounds
- Added a comfortable patch browser
- Much more detailed emulation of the 'analog' sound. The degree of analog behaviour is now selectable.
- Redesigned graphics
- More comfortable user interface
- A huge number of further new features and enhancements
- Saurus2 is 100% downward compatible with all previous versions

Thanks what I thought too... There are quite a few enhancements in the package.

There seems to be a lot of emphasis on comfort here.

Get one Tone 2 synth and you've got them all. Sure they have different layouts and graphics. But they all sound exactly the same. Pass.

I did that with every Tone2 synth I ever bought. Vowed I would never make the mistake of letting myself get suckered like that again.

You hit the nail right on the head.

I don't know. I have Rayblaster and Electra 2 and I love them both. To me they don't sound alike at all.

Nemesis is definitely it's own thing.

And Firebird definitely does sound different to Gladiator. :) Yes, Tone2's synths have a similar character, but i wouldn't say they sound all the same. Same with any other company. Moogs sound moogy, Novation synths sound like Novation synths. So what, as long as they don't sound exactly the same, and they sell the same thing under different names.

Well I've used up my quota of "Tone2 negativity" so, ok. You win. They all have their own character and are not just regurgitation's of each other with different equalization settings on the output and they all sound terrific. The end... :)

You mean like... we won this argument?... Meh, that was too easy. :P Well, i'm not a big fan of Tone2 synthes myself either. IMO, they applied too much of the psyhco acoustic enhancement stuff. It doesn't sound dry and natural anymore to me on most of their synths. This video shows pretty well what i mean:

Again, i wouldn't say they sound all the same, but this enhancement stuff seems to be a major point of their general character. Of course, each to its like, just my humble opinion on their stuff. Admittedly, i only really tried out Firebird and Gladiator, and listened to loads of sound demos of their other synths.

Being totally objective about Tone2 synths, at least the 2 that I have, they are in that class of synths that I classify as "plastic" synths. They're great for EDM but they're pretty one dimensional as far as sound. And that's fine because there is obviously a place for that sound.

I would not use them for everything. I certainly wouldn't use them for the same things I would use Omnisphere for and I wouldn't use them for old analog sounds like my Minimoog and Oberheim emulators.

They're fine for what they do.

The common characteristic of their synth is too emphasis on Reverb part. Esp most patches are just full of Reverb :dog:

I find that to be true of every synth plugin I get. Even if it help sell me on, there isn't one that I haven't had to tone it down or turn it off once I start recording with it.

And yes, Gladiator is different in character also.
The other three I have of them, seem fairly close to each other.
