GAS should be renewed every year, otherwise it gets explosive...

Mine is definitely caused by a lack of musical identity.
I can write in so many genres, but have yet to master one. The older I get, the more I like pretty much all music, with a few exceptions, but the only music I'm inspired by anymore is Naoshi Mizuta.
That's really flippin' sad to me because I don't want to sound like him. I don't think he sounds particularly good, and that's why he intrigues and inspires me so much.
That said, I didn't have this problem when I only wrote music with Windows MIDI. Had no problems with my musical identity then because I was actually happy with my gear.
I'm not looking for more gear, I'm looking for a better system to use my current gear. It's such a pain in the ass when all of my best sounds are spread out across 5 synthesizers.
FL Studio has a really neat feature that Asuyuka told me about a few days ago, and it's opened up so many new possibilities for me:

You can control different MIDI channels in the same channel by selecting different colored notes.
So I've started using Dimension Pro as a multi-timbral device and controlling all 5 string sections in one instance, in one channel.
Even Windows MIDI didn't give me that kind of ease of use.
Pretty cool.
But as far as my music goes, I just have no direction, and I need one so that I can know what to study next.

I think I could finally kill my GAS!
Well, I went to the bank and asked to close my accounts including the credit card. I gave them the credit card (and the debit card!) so I have no way now to buy anything, no more hosts or plugins! My paypal is connected to my old credit card. I'll leave it like that. I feel really happy now
It is time to stop looking around and have a deep look at what I have

this week I've bought a Doepfer Dark Energy 1 and a Yamaha RM1x .
software wise, I took advantage of the 66% off sale of Darklight IIx.
Thanks to eBay and JRR shop, I don't have to worry about starting a diet this week.
ps. forgot about the PreenFM2 kit I ordered last week. at least I'll die busy.

i managed to keep my GAS under control. only got the new Cerberus bass amp from Kuassa, and the NI RC24/48 bundle that i've been drooling over since their last 50% sale. oh, and Sparkverb also. nothing else since the new year...
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

I bought the Retro package refill bundle for Reason at Prop shop
Also bagged Hollow Sun's Nebula refill for a nice price.
Getting more into Reason at the moment, the combinator function is really excellent

I don't quite get thatArglebargle wrote:I've stopped my GAS by not making music anymore.
The thing about relieving GAS is that you end up spending a lot of time trying out new gear, and thus not having time to create music.
But when the GAS is gone, then you have that time
