Hi,
I am trying and failing to sync up a collection of analogue, MIDI over USB and MIDI via Unitor 8 synths to Logic Pro X.
I use a UAD Apollo interface.
It works ok until latency inducing plugins are introduced, then it all goes to pot. There are workarounds in Logic using 'External Midi Instruments' for playing back MIDI sequences. But MIDI clock is not compensated for once the latency starts. This wreaks havoc with external arpeggiators, sequencers and LFOs.
I'm sure I need something of yours but I don't know where to start. I'm wondering if I need a combination of the USAMO and the ESX-8MD ?
If I use the USAMO can I connect it to the Unitor 8 and get multiple inputs/outputs ?
I look forward to your help !
Tim

Are you just looking to send MIDI clock, or other MIDI data (notes etc.)?

For clock you could probably get away with a single USAMO and distribute the output.
If you want to send notes, a dedicated port per instrument is the recommendation. If you have a number of MIDI synths, the ESX-8MD (mk2) would probably be the way to go.

... and is that all I need ?
The site mentions that it's an expansion unit to a few other pieces. Which ones would I need ? Sorry for all the questions but it's a bit of a new world to me.

The 8MD is an expansion for either
- the ES-40, or
- the ES-5, which itself is an expansion for the ES-3.

Here's my message ... Can't find the problem.
Ok, thanks again.
So in order to synchronise my various USB, MIDI, and all-analogue devices, which combination do I need ?
I'm getting quite confused now I'm afraid.
The outboard gear I want to synchronise (for notes & controllers as well as clock) to my DAW is as follows :
Moog Vygr Performer Edition (MIDI In&Out, & Lots of back panel connections I don't really understand if I'm honest)
Arturia Minibrute (USB & Midi In&Out, Gate In & Out)
Arturia Beatstep (USB, MIDI Out, CV Out, Gate Out)
Roland JP8000 (MIDI In & Out)
Korg MS10 (CV In & Out)
Roland Paraphonic 505 String Machine (Gate Out)
I can also imagine adding a control surface such as a Roland TR8 Rhythm Performer.
I also have an Emagic Unitor 8 Mk2 MIDI interface if that helps ?

Sorry for all the info, but I don't know what I need at the moment.
Many thanks

Do you generally run at base sample rates (44.1/48) or higher?

OK, then all the options are open to you. You could get
- an ES-3, and ES-5 and an ESX-8MD, which would give you loads of CV outs, gate/clock outs, and MIDI outs, or
- an ES-40 and an ESX-8MD, which would give you your MIDI outs, and add further expanders as required.

No, there's no solution for MIDI in yet.
