Hi guys,
Looking to try and find out a bit more about the types of chords madeon uses in his songs. He obviously sounds very daft punk esque and I've tried to deconstruct what I can of theirs but I'm intrigued, has anyone else ever sat down and worked out what hes playing underneath those melodies and runs?
Thanks

Some of his later stuff is quite different from the earlier tracks like, say, Pop Culture. For example, Home is based around a IV vi V structure. Stay Awake has a IV vi I (with the occasional iii) chorus. Pop Culture starts off as IV ii vi I but goes into IV I V vi for the chorus. Nothing that special about the chord structures.
What make Madeon special (IMO) is the choice of samples or synth sounds put together with his particular style of groove. It gives him an unmistakeable 'signature' sound.

Hi Garry thanks for the reply. To my ear these don't seem like straight triads however is anyone aware of if his use of extensions and if so which are common for him?
