Try Caustic, seems to have quite similar workflow and has some neat built in instruments. Reminds me a lot of Orion when it first started out.rainer303 wrote:I love the modular pattern-based-workflow of orion, it's quite unique. It will be hard to find a replacement.

Just the built in ones but it has a good selection (more than Orion actually, although they tend to be simpler).

Not true actually, not that it matters muchaMUSEd wrote:(more than Orion actually, although they tend to be simpler).
You make what you will with what you wish.
It will be sad the day that Orion officially dies though
I use both btw.

It will cease to survive when it's not supported by Windows anymore.rainer303 wrote:unfortunately it's not really an alternative for meI need vst support.
I hope Orion will survive somehow.

kinda defeats the object then? the great thing about Orion is the speed with which you canaMUSEd wrote:Just the built in ones but it has a good selection (more than Orion actually, although they tend to be simpler).
get VST plugins up+running with it.
note: Mulab Free only runs 4 channels (not expensive though)

Not really, the original question was about nothing having a similar pattern based workflow. Caustic does. Whether it loads VSTs or not was not what I was responding to. And it's not finished yet anyway, so that may come, but it does have a great selection of internal synths and effects so it may not even need them, for quickly getting into songs it's very easy to get started.mztk wrote:kinda defeats the object then?aMUSEd wrote:Just the built in ones but it has a good selection (more than Orion actually, although they tend to be simpler).

Bigwig
Live
FL Studio
Just a few that can do pattern based
Orion should run fine on all current Windows including 10
What's the panic?

I finally decided to upgrade to 8.6. The final price was around $50, so well worth that. I spent a LOT of time in Orion, though it never was exactly what I wanted. It's still great for getting ideas down quickly.
