I fully understand how that works. But like many people, I have an iLok permanently attached to my studio DAW. I also have a laptop, which I grab and take with me all the time, usually to places without WIFI. It isn't at all quick and convenient to boot up my DAW, sign into the iLok manager, deactivate my license, boot up my laptop, sign into the iLok manger, and activate my license, then do the reverse procedure every day when I come home.zynaptiq wrote:not sure you're familiar with how that works on PACE. you can transfer the activation to another machine very easily and quickly -- takes me around 30 seconds. it's drag-and-drop. Or you can use an iLok2 to make it 10 seconds...
Many companies, both large and small, allow for two concurrent licenses for one desktop and one laptop system, with the understanding that they are to be used by a single person and not simultaneously. This type of policy simply acknowledges the way most people work these days, and makes accommodations for that.

Out of interest I just checked all the licenses on my iLok 2 (about 30) and e-Licenser (all Steinberg and VSL stuff), none of these allow for more than one license. So the above request seems to be more of an exception than the rule.

Slate is the only one that I know of that allows 2. I severely doubt there are "many."

Admittedly I don't have many iLok protected plugins. But outside of those, I think you'll find that most plugins, not to mention creative software in general, allow for two installations.

To be honest, most companies give you one activation to iLok2 only, and that's that. It's the whole idea about an iLok that you get to carry it around to move between systems frequently.
That said...we've never been uptight about stuff like this. If it's really a PITA for your particular workflow, just email me and I'll bump up your activation count.

I appreciate the offer. But first I'll give it a serious try with the current system before I start asking for special treatment.zynaptiq wrote:To be honest, most companies give you one activation to iLok2 only, and that's that. Excellent!zynaptiq wrote: Not with the current algorithms, but parametric cross-synthesis is something we have on our wish list. It's not quite clear yet how that could be integrated with the X/Y control paradigm, but amp/pitch/spectrum etc type a<->b controls would be cool.
Will buy this when the demo runs out (and when I can do this under the "gear acquisition syndrome" radar of my better half

I've always found the "honey, I'm going to save sooo much time and money using this...it's *really* not spending but saving money!" strategy to work best *grin*.

Hmm, I'll try to find a suitable spin for that scenario....tricky, thoughtq wrote:Doesn't work if your a (partial) hobbyist, I am afraid.

Just two quick notes. Er… make that three quick notes.
1) Morph 2 is just so much fun to play with!
2) Air Instruments offer not two, but three (3!) PACE (computer and/or iLok 2) installs for their recent native instrument range.
3) Last night I ran Morph in Live 9.1.7, OS 10.8.5, on an Early 2011 MB Pro, 16 GB RAM, connected to an RME Fireface 400. Smooth as butter, no CPU stutters or anything like that at all. I'll check on the same setup running 10.9.5 tonight or tomorrow.

just an FYI.
That way Slate does it is that they actually give you two licenses.
definitely the exception to the rule. I do that same, back and forth between laptop and PC. I move my two dongles back and forth.
