Velocity generator settings saveable as preset, possible to copy anything ?

Hello Attila,

I have one main disturbing point in my workflow at the moment and that is bringing velocity to the tracks.

While I am working with idea tool I know it is nearly impossible to get the velocity in their (because it is phrase variation, to randomly, you could not really set what and where).

So it is a really slaverywork to reset the midi channels evry time (cause their is no setting of midi setting/idea midi setting with works cause if you set the setting to "loop midi" the track gets "default loop midi" and that is NOT "loop midi", dont try to understand thats just the way it is....) but doin all the velocity track settings with the curves for six tracks evry time again after running the idea tool (apart from still crashing nearly evry second time) is just no fun.

So is there any possibility to save the settings of the velocity generator or copy the generated function curve from track to track or anything ?

I know evrything will be fine in 3.0 with the new idea tool, but since then...

Hi Richard,

I can understand your frustration. Tomorrow I'll try to add an option to the Idea Tool not to overwrite existing track settings. So any instruments, track variations, MIDI controllers will not be touched on subsequent generations.
I don't know how I will upload the update, probably only the standalone version will be available, because the VST plug-in is in ruins the middle of a major rewrite and cannot be built at the moment.

Standalone for me is more then suitable, my workflow at the moment is just standalone, midi routed to mulab with VST and then when I am fine with the "raw" ideas I finish the dragged midi in mulab so leaving existing tracks with instruments, midi setting and velocity curve is really all I need ans so would be really

Hi Richard,

as promised, you can download an update which has a new setting for the Idea Tool to leave existing track configuration untouched. This means the instruments, variations and MIDI controllers will not be overwritten by the Idea Tool.
Although this seems like an afterthought, it is useful for example in the following scenarios:
- you can set VST instruments in your composition for the tracks after the first generation. If you enable the new setting, the instruments (as well as variations, MIDI controllers) that you set or added to the tracks will not be overwritten
- generate the first few tracks by the Idea Tool but leave all other tracks untouched

You need to open the beta version download links (for Windows only). A .zip file will be downloaded with the x86 and x64 executable in it. Use the one you'd like.
I hope you'll find it useful . (I have not seen a crash in the Idea Tool).

So far as it belongs to me I now can really wait for 3.0, I have evrything I need

But.... , no but I think at least I can ask (I worked with a programmer for a GIS - Geographic information system - as the user and as noob I often wondered that things I thought should be easy...."come back later in weeks ? month ?..." and other things I thought "impossible" "oh, yes, come back after breakfast, I will have a beat then") will it be a great effort to add checkboxes before the tracks so that you can choose which track to include in the new idea run ? Just came to my mind as you write "

But thats not really important, luxury, just if it might take "until breakfast"

The crashes seems to appear evrytime I changed something in the idea tool and then hit the "shift + G" combination. After reloading it then runs. Cant fix it on a special operation, it is with the new version directly running as admin from the point where I downloaded (like that "portable" version too, we used to make our GIS then portable that was kind of a revolution 10 years ago) the same. Maybe the settings on my system with the loop midi etc. But no real problem cause RC restores the last state of work.

Hello Attila,

I think I ad another feature request just here in this content so I dont have to explain much.

Apart from having the possibility to choose which track to render as I mentioned above it would be great if in the track there could be an option to not only decide how many phrases should be generated but on which measure. So for example only first and third measure or evry second measure or....I think you get the idea.

Caution: I use two different melody tracks. Idealy they should of course complement but with "random influence" that dont work all the time. So it would be nice to have the opportunity to let them be constructed complementary. Melody track one on 1,3.... and melody track on 2,4.... So you can hear at the moment if that works and would not have to split the midi later on in the daw.

Of course that has time for 3.0, just an idea.
