I'll just flag this the newest updated versions of UVI libraries do not work with Mach Five 3.2.1.
I discovered this when I got DigitalSynsations for free 2 weeks ago, then feeling like I needed to say thank you for the freebie by buying something got the CS-M synth version 1.5 on the 25% off sale, which showed weird behaviour in that the loops were disabled. I knew something was up when I got a notification pop up when loading the instrument which stated that "This script was created with a more recent MachFiveScript:13. Please upgrade your software."
So UVI libraries that you buy additionally that have recently been updated with this script are unusable in Mach Five 3.2.1, Motu needs to update Mach Five, so I'm hoping they will do this soon..Just note that they are useable in the free UVI workstation. And I can open them in Mach Five 3.2.1.
The older libraries Retro Organs and DigitalSynsations work in Mach Five 3.2.1 for example as well as all of the Mach Five 3.2.1 included sound libraries..

I bought MachFive 3 as a GAS purchase from JRRShop with the crossgrade. I got a good price and the packaging of MachFive is really great, the documentation is easy to read. JRRSHop has to order from MOTU and it took me longer than I thought to get the package shipped to me, I had to call to get the order/shipping all worked out but eventually got the package shipped. just know that if you order from JRRShop it may take a little longer than they say.
I never use it. it's presets are meh, nuttin that isn't in other libraries or even better plugins. I have tons of hardware and software. I never reach fro MachFive. it just sits on the HD collecting dust.
I use Kontakt in almost every recording.
my MachFive 3, Sampletank 2.5 and Halion LE (free with Cubase version) just don't get that much use at all.
Now it may seem like I am bashing MachFive, for the presets and as an off the shelf sampler/sample playback it's just okay. not a lot of 3rd party addons, though that is sort of changing.
the real meat of MachFive is building your own stuff, manipulating your own samples, the synth engines and effects.
I just personally drive the car, I rarely go under the hood.
If it's a GAS purchase, I would say save your money, you will need it at the end of april on Omnisphere 2.0 upgrade, and if you get the upgrade free then you will have a new toy to play with soon - and you will be able to load your own samples in Omni 2 for some fun manipulations.

thought you will be able to layer sounds so multiple samples in layers sound patch.
guess more will be revealed once released.

So... that makes it two samples per patch. And 16 samples per multi. Not really all that great.

Here is an older thread which contains all this info already:V0RT3X wrote:If you could pit Mach Five 3 and Halion 5 against each other sound wise, which would have the better sounding synthesis and effects algorithms?

I'll have to do a bit of reading.
*update* So far my ears have been enjoying Machfive more than Halions.

I also thinking about to buying this because none of the smapler i tryed were my cup of tea (Kontakt, ESX24 and a few others). Are the LFO's polyphonic? And the most important thing for me.... i really need a sampler where i can load in at least 16 samples and can morph/blend them via an polyphonic LFO (or mod. envelope etc.) Like Alchemy just with more than 4 sound sources. Can i do this with Machfive 3. Sorry for the question. I saw that they give nice offers for cross grades so it would be great if it's the right tools for me.

Of course LFOs are polyphonic. They are polyphonic in Kontakt, too (when Retrigger button is enabled).

And you can just keep on adding LFOs in M5, I have used 10 and more in some patches, all polyphonic if needed. Plus you have all these other step sequencers, envelops, arps, the modulation system in M5 is as versatile as Alchemy's concerning the amount of modulators you can apply. There is no limit to the amount of samples per patch, I guess the amount of RAM of your computer is the limit here.

Thank you.... but can i really modulate everything inside Motu Mach Five 3 and with limitless LFO, envelopes? I'm searching since a while for something similar like Alchemy but which can use much more sound sources. Especially for blending/morphing these while playing notes. Mitosynth on my iPad is the only one which let me do such things. But the FX and filter section is limited and when i go complex with automation (for me the best modulation system i ever used) the iPad CPU can't handle it. IOS is a crappy smartphone OS and i thought there must be something similar on desktop. I even prefer this tiny app over the new Omnisphere 2 and some other big tools. I'm still a bit new to the desktop world so forgive me if i overseen something.
Thank's!
