Hi,
is RC "Data" folder moved to Program Files installation folder ?
my folder is
(C:\Program Files\RapidComposer (x64)\Data)

i just saw Data folder after installing 2.9b3-x64

Post

Hi yellukhan,

No, it did not move, only the installer installs the data files there.
The program copies the necessary (e.g. updated) files to the AppData folder which is still used for storing the settings, and all other data.

The reason is that the installer couldn't install anything into the standard user AppData folder, because it is run with Administrator privileges to allow writing to the Program Files folder, and all data were copied into the Administrator AppData folder instead of the user AppData folder.

Hello I'd like to add this to the bugs list:
Can't send Midi out of stand-alone version of RC 2.84
Can't load VST without crashing DAW (Ableton live 9.2, Bitwig 1.16)

on OSX 10.10.2.

Tried monitoring the midi and nothing shows up. Really frustrating

Post

Hello magnuzoid,

this should work. RC sends midi notes to the 'RapidComposer Virtual MIDI Output' port. I checked with a MIDI monitor on OS X 10.10. Please check the track settings: the instrument should be MIDI (e.g. "MIDI: GeneralMIDI"), and the Device should be 'RapidComposer Virtual MIDI Output'. Please let me know about the details of your configuration so that I can reproduce this on my system.

Hi lulukom!

You are right, I'll upload a fix shortly.
I enabled something in the beta version that was not properly tested on Mac OS X.

Thank you for reporting this problem!
Attila

A new update is available for OS X only (v2.9b4). It fixes the hanging caused by text editing. This bug was introduced recently with a low-level change which will bring better stability in the long run.

Hi Attila!
No, sorry, there are other problems in 2.94 on MAC
The program is installed, but when I try (in settings) assign MIDI input or MIDI output hangs the program immediately!

Hello Attila,

2.93 crashes evrytime when I tried to preview a chord progression that is not absolute chords. I first tried in idea tool but it is the same in an empty new composition window. I just opened the progression tool, right mouse click for preview on any note, C for example, puff.....there goes rapidcompser EVRY time, sometimes with bug window before crashing, sometimes just crashing.

I CAN click the preview button without touching a note, that works, but as soon as I hit C, D whatever, puff....

I can drag the progression to the composition window that works but I just cant preview with a note.

Where can I get these beta versions? The latest version I get when I click on the link is 2.84. Thank you in advance!

Post

I'll send you the download links in PM.
If you have the download URLs, you need to add 'beta' before the dot, so that it ends with ...beta.php
You can have the last stable version and the beta version side by side on your Mac/PC.

Great, thank you!

Hey Attila, is the beta installer supposed to be "stripped-down" with the latest beta download link? the Zip file (once extracted) contains a tiny RC file (32-bit) that's only 6MB. Then, the 64-bit installer's about 8 or so. Just wondering if this is normal, as the full installer is about 35MB when it's an EXE.

Thanks man!

Post

Hi Chris,
they are not installer , just exe as like portable apps.

Post

Hi Chris!

exceptionally I uploaded only the standalone executable files because the VST plug-in cannot be built at the moment.
I was concerned about all the VST plug-in stability issues in the past, and decided to rewrite the VST plug-in to be very simple and reliable. The VST plug-in will use a bridge to the standalone app, so there will be one application to maintain. So everyone will be happier.

Please copy the x86 or x64 executable in your program folder. You can rename the .exe file if you don't want to overwrite the last stable release. The next beta version (later this week) will include the new VST plug-in.

Thanks!
Attila
