Any free DirectWave instruments out there? I've just bought it at 50% off on the ImageLine website and I think it's pretty good so far. :party:

Well considering what it can load, there are plenty out there;

DirectWave program (*.dwp)
DirectWave bank (*.dwb)
Emu SoundFont2 (*.sf2)
Akai 5-5000 (*.akp)
Akai MPC (*.pgm)
Amiga Mod (*.mod)
GigaStudio (*.gig)
Apple EXS24 (*.exs)
Propellerheads Recycle (*.rex*.rcy;*.rx2)
Propellerheads Reason NN-XT (*.sxt)
Native Instruments Battery (*.kit*.kt2;*.kt3)
Native Instruments Kontakt (*.nki;*.nkm)
Kurzweil K2000 / K2500 / K2600 (*.krz;*.k25;*.k26)
RGC Audio SFZ (*.sfz)
FL Studio Mobile instrument (*.instr)

I use the native FL instrument in FL11.0.2, and rx2 cause crashes here, encrypted nki wont load and a good proportion of those nki that do load never finish loading. It's trial and error basically with some formats, and well worth keeping a record or what works and what doesn't.

Some Directwave stuff here;

http://www.retrosampling.se/vsti.htm

and don't forget it can do VST sampling !

Thanks!

I've also found this free set of analog synthesizers instruments here:

http://www.drumandsoundkits.com/free-in ... twave-kit/

It's a small set of instruments but it sounds good.

LOL

Thanks to this thread, I found out I can make use of all the Kontakt and sfz. patches I got within FL

Post

I posted couple of patches, once. I don't think I ever loaded DW, since I decided I need Kontakt anyway.

Thanks for the free sounds. We need more DirectWave libraries, so far, only ImageLine and HEX Loops seems to support this great sampler. I should create DirectWave sets myself! I'm not really interested in trial and errors trying other file formats in it.

With IL Download manager there's a good amount of free DirectWave instruments you can download. Some very nice stuff by Nucleus SoundLabs among other dev.

It occurred to me, that I have Directwave. Silly to have had it so long, and not learned it. So I've been watching the tutorials and I'm going to make some banks/sound for it. Any one have any tips?
Thanks!

Unfortunately not, if audio is compressed as ncw files or if the Kontakt lib uses customized GUI, DirectWave will not be able to load such NKI patches.

Why searching for DW instruments? The easiest way to create your own.
Choose a plugin in the channel rack with a preset that sounds good but use much cpu, then right click on the rack and create directwave instrument. Set the parameters then render it.
If you sample each key with multiple takes and with long durations, it can take quite a long time.
I'm just created an ~530Mb dw instrument. However IMHO there's a slight difference between the dw instrument and how the original plugin sounds. Perhaps this is the adsr and other settings of the DW... (+the sampling settings)

This function wasn't available at the time this thread was created + this method doesn't always work. With some plugins/FX chain combinations you only get silence or truncated notes or missing FXs (or the whole thing crash).

It would be cool to have a nice selection of acoustic instruments for DirectWave, it's a great sampler (very stable and easy to use).

I released a Directwave library but didn't get too much interest in it. I'm considering discontinuing it. If I do, maybe I'll release a smaller, free version. It's a pretty good sampler and its an amazing tool for creating multi-samples fast. If it could sample hardware as well as it does software, it would be indispensable, alas not. There also seems to be a lingering issue to its continuity, as from what I understand, imageline removed it from its shop (though it is still able to be purchased other ways).
100 High Quality Soundsets: Omnisphere 2, Dune 3, Tone 2 Synths, Pigments, Uhe Synths, Halion, Spire, and others.

Where can I learn more about your DirectWave library? I can't seem to find it on your site (I'm sure it's there but somehow didn't found it).

You can find it here. It's accessible from home page, top nav bar --> soundsets and you should see directwave. I made it less accessible as I said, I think I will remove it the next chance I get. .

Judging from the audio demos, your library is high quality. You can always try to sell it to Image Line, I know that's what other sound developer did. At least you would get the upfront money they pay for libraries.

DirectWave is still on sale and they are still working on its development. You may have been thinking about the end of development for the Fruity Soundfont Player as they don't have the source code to develop it up to 64bit and no prospect of getting it;
