Bass Capsule

I just got this, but I can barely evaluate it because I can't play it on my keyboard. The whole capsule is an octave too high...almost all patches are 1 octave higher than any other bass patch in any other sampler I have. First of all, why is this, and will it be rectified? Secondly, in the short term how do I transpose the whole patch in ST2 so I can play it on my 76-key keyboard? I wrote SR tech support about this and got no response.
Thanks,
Pete

I heard about this and there was a response. Maybe you didn't get it for some reason but I will give you one now anyway.
The Bass Capsule is a multiformat product, not just ST2. While it may be an octave higher than the ST2 XL basses, it is actually the same octave as most basses in other formats such as Reason, Kontakt etc. There is no "standard" range for bass samples really. It could be one or the other.
Anyway, the important thing is that you are one click away from octave transposition in SampleTank 2. It's on the right side of the module right below the Porto section. You can transpose it up or down by octave. That is a quick adjustment to have them where you want them.
But, I wanted to point out that this is not a flaw in the library, it's just a preference. If you want to save back the sounds with the octave setting change so you don't have to keep doing it you can save it back as a COMBI preset (at the top of the module in the center) so you can load a "snapshot" of whatever settings you make on the module.

It's out? When do we get to hear demos? I've heard great things about this one.

It's coming out. Those that pre-ordered it that didn't want or need to wait for the ST2 LE part (which is coming in less than a week or two) can just ask dan@esoundz.com to send them the latest sound discs and UFO. We're still tweaking things in the UFO though. It's not an easy thing I have to say. Sooooo much work involved. But, worth it in the end. These are super value libraries like nothing else I've seen.
I am altering the title of this thread because Bass Capsule's octave range isn't really a "problem" as much as it is a preference thing. We want to hear about actual problems though so we can fix them. This was just a way of programming it that lines up with multiple formats and other bass mapping methods. There's an easy workaround too so you can have it either way in ST2.
On the surface if our partners read a thread title like that they may get the wrong impression from it. When you work so hard to actually get rid of any problems you don't want a product to look like it still has problems via a thread title! I don't know if you understand what I mean but... if you only knew the flack I get sometimes!

Is that to say that the promised capsules demos are once again delayed and not for this week either?Squids wrote:We're still tweaking things in the UFO though. It's not an easy thing I have to say. Sooooo much work involved. But, worth it in the end. .
No blame, I'm asking just to know....
At least you are here, you face your customers and reply to them, even if news are not as good as they could be, which is not always the average behaviour in this industry.

Sorry to hijack this thread
but did I read a post from Squidz over at Cubase.net (looked but can't find it again) saying the SR Bass Collection has been updated to ST2 format, with more presets, or did I dream it?
I'm 'pretty sure' he said to contact SR about the download link. I did, and have heard nothing back, so I probably did dream it

I was actually working on the demos a few days ago and it was taking forever because I kept wanting to make a whole song out of it... I need to get back to finishing them but it would be helpful to have more people who could make wicked demos for us.sirbellog wrote:Is that to say that the promised capsules demos are once again delayed and not for this week either?Squids wrote:We're still tweaking things in the UFO though. You contacted SR about it and didn't hear back? Who did you contact? What email?Ian B wrote:Sorry to hijack this threadbut did I read a post from Squidz over at Cubase.net (looked but can't find it again) saying the SR Bass Collection has been updated to ST2 format, with more presets, or did I dream it?

Anyway, yes this is true. It is free for ST2 owners who have the Bass Collection (or anyone who has bought it since Jan 2004 from esoundz). The update isn't uploaded yet though. It will be probably next week.

Perhaps that explains it then? If it's not up yet I can't be told where it is.Squids wrote:Ian B wrote:Sorry to hijack this threadbut did I read a post from Squidz over at Cubase.net (looked but can't find it again) saying the SR Bass Collection has been updated to ST2 format, with more presets, or did I dream it?

I used support@sonicreality.com as you suggested in the Cubase.net post. I did mention I've changed my email addy since I bought it, tho' I gave both old and new along with my postal address which is still the same.

Maybe the problem is that you fear creatures with more than 4 legs.
We'll make sure you can get it Ian. I'll post on Cubase.net and here when we have them up on esoundz.com
The other place they will be available is in the SampleTank 2 user's area on sampletank.com It will probably be up there by the end of the month. We'll have it on esoundz hopefully some time next week in the freesoundz section.
