the cat got a good firm belly rub and a pat on the head. then I told her she was getting fat - don't think she liked that :hihi:

I dig it. Nice build-up, but those high keys that kick in @ 1:40 sound very out of place in a not good kinda way. Maybe needs a different patch or something; the part is good, but the patch doesn't sit in the mix. Good track though, always good tracks.

those are artifacts from a massively modulated sound rising like three octaves above where it was.... hmm... could filter some of it out I guess.

so, are you saying this track is nice? :hihi:

Post

Indeed. I consider it NICE
in the truest possible sense of the word.

Boy what a treat. Two ivilion tracks within the week :D

My cat was staring at me with a look of: why don't you make me tunes like this one. :hihi:

Way different to hthar as this one seems more open and has more going on in the high end; less rhythmically driven, but still with the endmusic signature on it.

Thanks for sharing these Michael :D

thanks for listening guys!

don't worry mystahr - more bass drones to come... ;)

Post

This is nice. Very gloomy, but then those nice harp-like sounds cut through to add texture. I enjoyed listening to it.

Have to remark, the mixing,if any, sounds like hell here Michael.
Sounds as if it were knocked out without any corrective mixing.
Not making a skill assessment...just an observation.

Sounding like "hell"hahaha, that is the ultimate complement... 8)
I see above...you already acknowledged to the squelchyness.of that one synth.
The ambient wash sounds rather mudled/an over abundance of low inharmonic transients.Rolling it off might help...can`t say for sure.
It`s burrying the plucked sounds, and doesn`t sit well with the strings.

Sounding like "hell" reminds me of an Art Bell radio show about 2 yrs ago where they "supposedly" had a recording of hell itself!!
The story was...while mineing in Russia somewhere, the miners heard faint sounds coming from the vertical shaft. They called authorities who then dropped a microphone down the mile or more hole.
Well...Art played what was recorded.
You could hear men and women screaming in the typical "i`m in hell, and it really sucks"sorta way.
I could tell that it was a hoax...recognizing how it was effected to sound that way.
Gotta say this about it though...it was freak`in scary shit!!!
Who ever did made this, did a bloody good job of it!!! :-o

thanks for the comment clarification :D

overall - there is some intention to the way the sounds intermingle - from an AE perspective sounds are overpowered and frequencies collide, but in my mind for these tracks, I kind of see these building into their own chaotic soundstage, I like the tension when the elements fight it out, kind of a swirling, claustrophobic feel.

though that all could change when I do final mixes for the album.

and about the art bell thing - yeah, I heard that. pretty funny too :D I may have to try my hand at something like that....

Yeah! Give it a go...most definetly!
And you thought it was funny...hehehe...you would..scared me.

Speaking of devilish sounds...have you ever tried resampling sounds with the attack envelopes reversed?
That works great when reversing echo reflections.
In other words...making a 3-5 reflection echo start soft then get louder as it approaches the sample.(reverse time and attach envelopes, but not the sample itself).
That`s a pretty creepy effect!
