Yes, it's a little bit difficult to find good names for the different concepts. A MIDI setup can be very simple (e.g. each Sundog instrument maps to exactly one MIDI instrument/channel), or it can be very complex (several Sundog instrument point to the same MIDI instrument etc). Both ways have different pros and cons, but I think you will get the point rather quick

Standard sounds: Yes, I thought about this one, too. Maybe I will give it a try in a future version. Thanks for mentioning that

I figured it out now (v2 beta) could not be more easy to quickly get a sketch for a song, great app.

So i have bought the soft last week haven't had time for music but let see if this is better than v 1.50 ( i haven't really liked the previous one if you remember my email...)

Lets try all these new features (i have seen some suggestion was implémented for the ergonomy part ) the soft have a good progression!

I love this program! It has really transformed my workflow and has given me the ability to play vst instruments that I could never reasonably play without a keyboard before. I'm a guitar player and just can't get the proficiency with midi keys that I need to make various instruments sound good. I have even gotten this program and Kontakt Strummed Acoustic to give me a nice strummed acoustic sound when I can't track an acoustic myself. I never thought that could happen. I know this sounds like a commercial but very few programs have had this effect on my creativity. I'm really looking forward to 2.0.

And so far things seem to be quite good. In rare cases there seems to come up a mysterious freeze after dragging around song parts. However, so far nobody could find a way to reproduce this in a deterministic way. If someone can find a way: Please drop a line!

Yes, I like that kind of license as well when I am a customer myself

. I hope my theory is right that enough new musicians show up each year to make this a sensible business model

So far I like the changes in 2.0 and most things are working well. Only things are I can't find the "Arp Down Mix" pattern and playing a song crashes UVI Workstation. Kontakt seems fine though.

Oh, an "Arp Down Mix" pattern was never included I think. I created an "Arp Up Mix" to show that it's possible to mix an arpeggio with different octaves.

About UVI Workstation: Did this work with Sundog 1.5? And do you use Win or Mac?

Thanks for the tip about the <CTRL>+Wheel scrolling. The helps tremendously.

Sundog is well thought out. Implentation and use is easy, once you get it.

Sundog is not like other arpeggiators and sequencers so it does take a bit to get used to how it works. TBH though I really think Sundog has helped me generate ideas quicker than anything else I have used (although I really like how Rapid Composer gets ideas out quickly too

)

FWIW, aside from the rtpMIDI issue, I haven't hit any bugs, that I know of. I have attributed any snags to my inability to understand the process. Once I have that down it's been smooth sailing.

Regarding the rtpMIDI problem - this is not imperative. I have been able to work around the issue by using the DAW as the master clock source for now. I haven't tried Sundog yet with other DAWs and assume the problem will be there too; however, I believe each of those will function in the same way. Basically it will not be a problem and I think you will be better focusing on other issues first.

Eventually I will prefer to use Sundog as the master clock source (there are advantages depending circumstances) but for now all is good.

Hi, Dennis, really nice to find your comments here (as well as in Nora threads

). It looks like we both are interested in similar new creative apps

And I fully support your point of view - Sundog is a wonderful trigger of "lazy inspiration" so to say

I am still in the process of testing it but already I got many interesting ideas on how to "mix" it with RC, Nora and other "great music helpers"
