Should we delete the old vst plugin? Is there any point in still using the old one for some things?
Thanks Attila,
Jim

Yes, Jim, you will need to replace the old plug-in with the new one.
I do not recommend keeping the old plug-in because it won't have any advantages, and it won't be supported.
You will use the new plug-in the same way as the old one. When you load it, the plug-in will check if RC is already running. If it does, it connects to the application, and the plug-in will be available as an instrument in RC (e.g. "Plug-in #1 in REAPER").
If you load another RC VST plug-in in your host to use another 16 channels, another instrument will appear ("Plug-in #2 in REAPER").
If RapidComposer is not yet running, the plug-in will start it. If the standalone was already open, it will change to "VST bridge mode". You will see how it works in a few days. At the moment the plug-in works well on Windows.
Thanks,
Attila

Hi Attila, I have Installed the full version last night and got everything working perfect until I tried to import a midi file, this crashed RapidComposer and cubase. This happens every time I try to import.
Using RapidComposer 64 as a vst
cubase 8
windows 8.1
works fine in standalone mode.

Hi dark-i,
this bug was fixed in v2.9b2 (see http://www.musicdevelopments.com/beta.xml) and is included in the current beta version. I'll send you the download links for the beta version in PM.
Sorry about this annoyance.

Experiencing a similar thing here.
Create an idea in RC and export files
Open Cubase and import files.
Cubase freezes at import stage.
Have to terminate Cubase and try again, though the reload seems not to free up Asio drivers and grinds to a halt and cubase becomes quite silent, so have to reboot machine, reload cubase and try again but same thing happens and keep going round in circles....?

This may be due to exclusive program use of the sound device.
On the properties tab of the device untick "Allow programs to take exclusive control of this device."
Here is a post at the Steinberg forum that may help:
http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=400351
RC should release the device once the program is closed but I have had instances as you describe. Taking the above action seems to have solved the problems I have encountered though.

Thanks Dsan,
there are a few multi client Asio drivers out there that act as a wrapper, steinberg have one but I think it's only 32bit for XP/vista/win7/8 can't seem to find any 64 bit as it evolved into rewire I think, maybe the nytonix one should be 64bit by now but haven't had a good look at it, check out these links
http://www.ntonyx.com
http://you-can-download.net/steinberg-m ... io-driver/
Some people on the NI forum use the ntonyx with machine and other hardware cards using jack audio, a bit fiddly to set up but supposedly quite stable if it's got right.
The SSL nucleus has built in Multi Client as does my Sonic Core card, though currently can only use that when the system/desk is booted up over ADAT light pipe so using a cheap set USB audio speakers for late night.
Effectively, using the available resources, such as mentioned above (and there are more if you search) it should be relatively easy to set up a wrapper to connect the ins and outs of multi applications to a single Asio source, of course if you have or can finds an old native instruments Kore audio card/software it should be easy peasy as that had multi client Asio drivers and multi midi wrapper as well, just as important..
Keep this forum open and see which combinations of the freeware work, be handy for newcomers to RC as it would expand it's use ability no end
PS: Maybe Attila may be able to create a new multi client Asio/midi driver for RC, be huge selling point if he could! (Hint hint lol)

Here's another one which uses the concept of an Asio server, similar in concept to the Novation auto map server, worth a try but still (I think) 32bit. Waiting for reply on that.

Haven't used these but may be helpful

Also Windows 10 is offering big changes for audio, although not all at once. Check out this gearslutz Windows 10 forum especially posts by the Microsoft rep Pete (Psychlist1972) eg https://www.gearslutz.com/board/10768123-post186.html There's also hints about Thunderbolt, USB C, Midi etc
Early info aimed at developers at http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/WinHEC/2015/WHT202 Apparently more will be revealed at the end of April at a 'build' event.
Cheers

unfortunately there is a stupid bug in v2.84 when importing MIDI files in the VST plug-in. If you download the beta version, it will work well.
Good news is that the rewritten VST plug-in works very well on Windows. I am confident that no-one will have any issues with the VST plug-in in the future. It will be available in the next beta version later this week, then the OS X plug-in will be reworked.
Thank you for the interesting links!
Regards,
Attila

I bought rapidcomposer today and I really enjoy experimenting with it! However I have a problem..
When using RC as a VSTi in studio one, I get a lot of 'stuck notes' if i regenerate phrases while I am playing a track. Any stuck notes keep playing even after i stop the song. I'm routing it to the zebra2 VSTi, but I don't know yet if it affects all VSTi:s.
This is extra troublesome since I've found no other way to kill the note(s) other than to change preset in my vsti (zebra2). Panic stop/mute won't help either in studio one or rapidcomposer (after switching local seq on).
Perhaps RC could send midi note offs on such occasions, instead of leaving notes in limbo?

Hi joule,
welcome to this support forum!
The problem you mention is an old, known issue unfortunately. Removing phrases or applying variations that remove notes during playback leave them hanging, which is bad. The reason is that the rendering process is not notified about notes being moved or removed. It is even trickier when a variation moves the note ending to earlier than the playback position, which means a Note Off will never be sent...
>Perhaps RC could send midi note offs on such occasions, instead of leaving notes in limbo?
Yes, definitely, I'll try to do something about it.
Thanks,
Attila
