@mutantdog
Lol, I will save myself the hassle. Music is my hobby, no more than that :wink:

Because the presets and configuration of projects related to the warez copy will not be loaded with the new installed legal copy then, I assume.
Don't think so. They didn't change the program as whole, they spread a serial or if they have any "remarkable skills" they kill the copy-protection without harming the relevante code.

Beeing myself a crack veteran (i know i know..) from the golden days of C64 it's a question of honor - if you like it or not. :lol:

PS. @mutantdog: If you haven't cleaned the registry entry chance is big that you don't need to authorize it again. Most of the time this "crackers" use serials to unlock the official demo versions anyway.

@murnau
Those were the days. Still I had to buy a PC which was pretty expensive.

Which is why I wondered about uninstalling a payware synth then re-installing it. Would it need to be activated or would it know that its using an authorised computer?

edit:
Okay, I've just tried it with Hive and it did ask me to register again.

On the other hand I believe someone installed an "unlimited demo" of a Voxengo plugin on my machine once. I promptly removed it but when i later came to download a legitimate demo of it or another Voxengo plug, it was fully working. I didn't keep it either, found a perfectly good freeware alternative.

Maybe I'm wrong here, memories can be flawed, but I'm pretty sure something along those lines happened.

Depend which protection it use. A registry entry (like FL Studio use) doesn't check your hardware it's just there because the uninstall didn't remove it (sometimes you have other leftovers too like folders etc.)

EDIT: Voxengo uses a Reg as well, you can open it with notepad and see your name and serial.

Well, FM literally told me they'd do nothing about it. Now they cover their tracks by reediting the video. That's my worst case "coward exit" scenario. Let the doush live and pretend nothing happened. Shocking, really.

I've seen similar examples where editors got fired and a thorough apology / statement was printed. I don't think we'll see anything like it here. The message is: Software theft is not even a petty crime for Future Publishing. They don't care. Elsewhere people get fired for taking a left over banana. But yeah, a banana is a thing, software isn't and everybody does it anyway and what's the big deal. Well, for us it is.

There's no way we're renewing our advertisement contract with Future Publishing. We'll let the current one run out and that's that. I'm really pissed off we just renewed it a few weeks ago for a whole year. I like the guys at CM, but we might need to spend our budget elsewhere (we've been eyeing the American market… bit pricey, but probably worth it)

Why you don't sue the "artist" in the video? Make an example. This videos where they flaunt cracked software getting worse more and more. Where are we? This people making money by harming you and so the rest of us.

Hmm.. I think FM just tried to be 'hip'.

After the retarded statement of Lennar Digital they could not do anything else than re-edit the vids, I suppose.
Because that made it even worse. Lennar was not forced by anyone to make a statement about how -, why - and by whom their app was cracked.

Curious.

That needs to be LennarDigital's call. I don't think we'd have a case.

I only read your comments here and didn't recognize it was about Sylenth alone. Glad you don't have an issue.

Right so you're pulling your advertising, but will let the old one run for almost a whole year. That'll show 'em.

Why not submit an ad for publication with your logo on a blank background and state the reason for the black out being fm condone piracy?
Wouldn't that have more chance of raising awareness about an issue that has motivated you so?
