What I was saying was guitatists use guitars. With all the corresponding techniques and limitations. Violinists use violins.
By using computers and VSTis we can 'emulate' these instruments. We cannot recreate them properly yet.
Perhaps we can fool some of the poeple some of the time.........?

So please, what point are you trying to make, if any?

this is ok, but needs some work. There are a lot of good ideas. But it definately needs some variation and more balance in the mix. To me, everything seemed to one side (of course I have been having trouble lately with cables).

I never heard of Keith Richards or Lenny Kravitz or or whoever using a keyboard to play their guitar!

I've heard of them using keyboards, computers and drugs. But not to play their guitars.....

Guitarists use guitars to play the guitar.
They may use keyboards.
They don't use keyboards to play the guitar. Thats what they use their guitar for.
They use keyboards to play things they can't on the guitar.

Also as for your quotes. Is your 1st language english?

I started off on another thread cos people were implying that using strings in a tune was groundbreaking and the strings in a particular tune were great. I mentioned that my opinion was they could be better. I then found the same thing on this thread. Topaz got on one and here we are.

With regards strings tho........don't the big boys doing film scores use EWQL, Garritan, etc etc to write the tunes. Then get in the real players for the recording?

As electronic musicians we choose to use sampled strings. We choose to use synths. We choose to use our stupid f**king beepy noises. We can't afford a real orchestra in any case.

I didn't say that guitatists aren't allowed to use keyboards. I didnt' say that we have to use real strings. I didn't say that a Mellotron string patch won't work in a tune better than an orchestra (depends on the tune). I didn't say anyones music was shit. I didn't say Topaz was an arsewipe. Or anyone else......

I never said that my work was groundbreaking. I only said that Donks wrote what was IMHO an excellent string section for my track (even more impressive that he did it so quickly).
