The return on investment from a Reaktor purchase is unlike anything I've ever encountered in the software world. The thing just keeps getting bigger, more diverse, more creative, better sounding, blah blah blah. Every time the user library is updated, it's something new all over again.

For Reaktor alone, they deserve the highest praise.

it's just like any other synth..
it's actually surprisingly easy to program if you spend some time in it

vurt..

can you have a lok at that preset I send you? add an envelope (or click on filter 2 freq which is already there) and save, then load the preset again and see if the new envelope has been saved too?

I was a bit tired (and stoned) yesterday and I'm wondering if I did anything wrong.. those damn envelopes kept disappearing

I've had good to excellent results dealing with NI's support people. B4, Reaktor 4, FM7 -- each is indispensible to me, or nearly so. Top quality stuff there.

That said, some of their products interest me not at all. Battery ain't a patch on DR-008. ^_^ But that's okay, it'd be a shame if one company dominated every niche.

I buy from indies like Camel Audio, big companies like NI and CW, and everything in between... thanks to online reviews and downloadable demos, it's very rare that a program displeases me after buying, whether it's from a big or little maker.

Variety! Huzzah!

oh f**k.. what happened there? I PM'd you a link yesterday evening but I just noticed it doesn't show in my sent items. kvr must have cocked up :D

here goes.. it probably wont sound as intented because of the envelope problem so I'm curious to see if you have the same problem

I'll make a sample when I get home so you can compare (cause it sounds dodgy without the correct envelopes)

I've had nothing but good dealings with NI. AFAIK they allow license transfers on all of their products, and handle them admirably. Would that all the devs were so enlightened.

The free upgrade to Reaktor 4 was unexpected and welcome, too.

Thanks NI!
And all life's fears
Can invade my ears
I can handle it

This might seem like nitpicking, but actually it is not just like any other synth, and that's what makes it take some time to get into even for experienced sound programmers:
There is a fundamental difference in how modulations are handled. On about every other synth a modulation either adds/subtracts to/from a value, while in Absynth a modulation scales the value. This means that you set the actual maximum modulation amount by the parameter itself, and not by the modulation amount. A completely different concept.

i originally ordered fm7 from floridamusic.com. the packaging lacked a serial number for sound voulme 1. florida music referred me to NI support line in California.

after reading the comments on kvr about NI, I was concerned that I'd never get that disk loaded. When I called I got a voice mail box. I left my number and thought here we go, 'They won't call'. They called about half hour later and created a serial number for me.
The only thing I didn't like was the space music on hold sounded terrible through the phone.

and that's how I qualified for Komplete 2 and that's turned out to be way beyond my expectations.
