I'm Mark Holt who was mentioned to have made wavetables in the post by Yorrrrr. I made the factory wavetables that begin with MH. A wavetable can be anything from 2 to 64 individual wave cycles. Actually, it can be more than that, but there are reasons for not doing that which I won't go in to right now. Each individual cycle must be 16 or 32 bit and 2048 samples long. If you're just starting out I would use 8 waves or less. DUNE2's interpolation means you'll get mostly good results when morphing/moving through the wavetable. Sorry, I can't give you help on Audioterm, I have my own approach to this that is tied in to an expensive program (Wolfram Mathematica).

It's okay, I actually figured it out from the videos through start/stop and just writing everything down. Some of the steps I don't quite understand why they're repeated but it doesn't matter. I just follow them and so far my results have been excellent.cytospur wrote:I'm Mark Holt who was mentioned to have made wavetables in the post by Yorrrrr. All I have to do now is figure out how to convert my Serum wavetables to Dune 2 wavetables and I'm done.

My notes on how to use Audio Term - no guarantee
Convert sample to dune wavetable
sample needs to be 32bit, I think or else it gets put in 00 Currently Unrecognized Files folder
(most of the menu items have <> brackets)
put sample in driveletter:\Audio-Term\data\01 Samples (WAV)
invoke program
Kterm
Disk
select sample.wav (usually 8.3 shortened name - ~ tilde etc)
Load
analyze
set piano note to c etc
resynth
apply
disk
ftype
09 - dune
save
type name
ret (to save to wt)
-get out exit
sys
menu
exit

i would like that synapse audio releases their wavetable tool for Dune2, audioterm is no option for me that GUI is a mess and the ancient behaviour is just shit.
Dune2 could also benefit from getting more popularity and freedom, when there is a nice easy way to get new wavetables in.

Dune would get more popular if it had much more EDM soundbanks, being used by some popular artist...and maybe would've been cracked (wich is sense ofcourse a bad thing, but sometimes can work as an advertising).

dang
what if the wavetables were just 2048 sample 32-bit cycles end on end. That would be pretty easy to deal with IMO

I wonder what I want in here

Is there a way to convert wavetables from one format, like Serum, to Dune 2 format using Audio Term?Kriminal wrote:If anyone has samples in the correct format (wav, 2048 and 16/32) i will happily convert them to a WT.
** EDIT ** I tried something stupid and it worked. I just loaded a Serum wavetable into Audio Term and saved it as WT format and it seems to have worked.

How did you do that?
i just grabbed AT and it looks like it might be a nightmare to use. I'd only use it for converting other WT's, as i already make my own samples and compile them into WT's.
cheers

Well, I have 385 wavetables that I created using Serum. I loaded one of them into Audio Term using the simple load function. I then went directly to disk and saved it as a WT file. I then brought it into Dune 2 and it worked fine.
I'm as surprised as you are.

Is it possible you have a different version than I do? If you like, I can write out instructions and post them.Kriminal wrote:AT doesnt seem to have 'simple' load and save functions.... it looks such a mess i dont know if i can be bothered to try and figure it out.

would be cool if you could write some instructions for it.wagtunes wrote:How did I do that?Kriminal wrote:How did you do that?
