One Synth Challenge #74: DEXED (Jasinski Wins!)

Same problem here with Reaper4.77, Win7, dexed0.8.0 (all 64 bit), basic kick sound.
To me it seems it's not about the number of bars, i.e. not about the time elapsed. For me the change occurs every 16 MIDI note on events.
I notice this with both LFO and OSC key sync switched on in parallel. Switching LFO key sync off while keeping OSC key sync ON seems to cure it for me. Hmm.

Same issues on Mac OS X (10.10.2) with Logic Pro X (10.1.1) and the dexed-0.8.1-au_test.zipmmoncur wrote:Same issue here: Mac OS X, Ableton 9.2 beta 4. Driving me nuts...esteband wrote:FWIW, I'm running into the same problem as MTLE and Parduz.
DAW: FL Studio 11 (32 bit)
Win 7 64 bit
I hear it on every percussive patch, though I don't notice it so much on pads or other patches with long sustain/decay.

Yes. I'm having the same problem in Logic Pro X and the dexed 8.1.
Also having a problem where a patch opens with in aa "note on" state with sound coming from an oscillator that is set to a fixed frequency. So far I've seen it from operator 1 only, but have not done any additional testing. Flipping the mono switch on/off makes it go away.

No it is not the same. The dexed-osc-debug-win32.zip contains a possible fix for OSC sync but I didn't have time to test it throughly. I'm waiting for someone with win32 to test this.Hanz Meyzer wrote:Hey asb2m10,asb2m10 wrote:since I don't have a working project with that issue, can you test this and tell me if it works (be sure to set "OSC sync" on !!!!)

To give some quick feedback (I don't have much time now): I tried to test it on Windows 8.1 / 64 Bit and it's complaining that MSVCP110.dll is missing on my machine.asb2m10 wrote:since I don't have a working project with that issue, can you test this and tell me if it works (be sure to set "OSC sync" on !!!!)

I can confirm the problem as described by some of the others forum members: After 16 MIDI events the sound starts to change. I have tested with Dexed 0.8 / x64 and have used the first drum preset from the BIGMAMMA002 bank for testing. Don't even need some reverb or compression to notice the change.

Oh, you wait for my results ...
The good news is, the debug version can do it better.
But its not just exchanging, switching sync on and everything is done. Who expected that?
I had to modify my snare from the example above. I have no idea why, but OP1 EG values 1 and 2 seemed to be important in my case. But the result comes only in combination of new version and maybe preset change. And please use polyphony, mono stil does everything else.
With current identical patch settings and swapping the dlls I get following reproducable result. Listen yourself.
Version 0.8.0:
http://s352709769.online.de/SD_test_0.8.0.mp3
posted debug version:
http://s352709769.online.de/SD_test_debug.mp3
I think the result is clear.
The 16 notes mentioned by sawsq come from the 16 internal voices for polyphony. After one round using all voices it starts over with first free voice. Maybe the old version did not reset any value correct and it created new timbre for next round ... So far what I guess from a short code review. Its written in C/C++, but I'm not, so I could be wrong with this.
Have fun with the debug version, or asb2m10 will make a release from it...
Cheeers.

Here's my track:
https://soundcloud.com/krisl/reefius-acidexed
Made this just for fun in about 90 minutes, only 6 instances of Dexed
Made in Ableton Live 9.2 Beta 5, used only built-in effects from Live (EQ8, compression, delay, reverb, ...)
I've put some distortion on the acid, is that allowed?

Any chance of an OS X build of the debugged version? Otherwise I'll get back to my original "split the Kick track into 80 tracks, one for each 2 measures of kicks" plan...MTLE wrote:Oh, you wait for my results ...

O.k., it seems I cant deny any longer, seems I am addicted
Wont participate this time, no way.....but Sundog beta came out, had some licks, all these thousands of wonderful presets blinking in the treasure chest just for me...
So Sundog is laying lazy round the backyard again.....
And its me again, sigh......
BUT: you all are there
so just
https://soundcloud.com/richie-87/tatank ... ackyardwav
And here the usual things:
Done with Mulab, only 8 tracks but used some mux with different Dexed put together, the low cpu use is really amazing so I can use some more things on the channels: high/low pass filter, all the great Terry West stuff (Mhorse P3, CSM, Masquerade....), a little reverb here and there (discovered mo verb for me this time), for the bass I used dubturbo eq. Mastering as usual with Mhorse P3, Nova 67, Limiter No6 and this time a little reverb from mo verb.
And what really motivates me to participate against all brain and time issues: the new beta 2 from Sundog, what a great tool, so special thanks goes to the developer for this wonderful thing

I'm sorry but it is all my fault. While trying to support more than one DX7 engine, the "OSC sync" option got lost... I should stop playing pads with Dexed to find more bugs.Hanz Meyzer wrote:Hey asb2m10,asb2m10 wrote:since I don't have a working project with that issue, can you test this and tell me if it works (be sure to set "OSC sync" on !!!!)

Dexed.component (osx-vst/au : http://le-son666.com/software/dexed/dex ... SC-osx.zip) seems to work perfectly fine on Mac OS X (10.10.2) with Logic Pro X (10.1.1).
