SoundGoddess wrote:I voted...

Here are my favorites for this month (which I voted 5pts) in no particular order:

mmoncur - orbit
yavn - fast food
tatanka - winterschulung 2015
mcaitch - breath
idfpower - in flux
bh9090 - right wing fear mongers
anthony newcomb - synergy
reefius - untitled?
edgek8d - dissolution

I wasn't sure I liked tatanka's song at first because it seems so non-traditional, but it got stuck in my head for several days and as an acquired taste I found I really enjoy it after I got use to its unique structure.

yavn's melody got stuck in my head too, it really is a lot of fun, makes me want to dance. :)

There way too many good entries...I had a hard time judging. I gave out tons of 4's, although most of the songs were 3's. I only gave out some 2's for songs I didn't like that much but where it was a good effort, and only really gave out 1's if I felt that the song was low-effort.

I meant to comment on everyone's soundcloud, but I honestly got pretty overwhelmed with all the songs so I didn't give as much feedback as I'd have liked to.
Thank you so much for the kind words. One of the best parts of OSC & KVR is the possitive & supportive community.

Wow....soundgoddess cant say how happy you make me :D
Aww I'm glad I could put a smile on your face
I was really kind of a little depressed with last (and my first) OSC. The votings were absolutely correct cause I just fudged around and did not really cared enough but I felt the SONG itself did not deserve this, only me lazy noob (if you get what I mean). So with the help of evrybody in here, especially the constructive comments, I really worked on the song this time and changed it some times (the "5" dont stand there for nothing....).
Thankfully you didn't get so discouraged as to not try again. I do think that the more effort you put into it the more you'll end up getting out of it. I know for myself I find it really easy to start a song idea and be excited about it, but then it's hard for me to put in the effort to turn it into a real song and to spend so much time mixing and mastering. What OSC has done for me is give me more motivation to be more disciplined in my approach and invest time into it so that the final product is better.
Soundgoddess, this comment really means so much to me and thank you for just struggling with the song, I know that I am not "traditional" (though I am kind of old-fashioned :-)))), but is this anyone in here really ? Thats one thing I learned from just listning to the songs. I really have NOTHING to do normally with EDM and all that, did not even know what all this directions are all about (most I have never heard before) but the SONGS are just great and make me happy that there is so much creativity and feeling around, thats what counts for me.
Yeah you're not really following a typical kind of song structure. I get a mixture of emotion from it...like it's posing a rhetorical question where there is no real clear answer. But it hit me on a deeper level because I connected with the energy. Most songs tell a story, but your song really felt more like a complicated set of emotions being conveyed in musical form, in a way that would be too hard to express in words. Does that make sense? I'm not sure if that's what you were going for or not. But that is why it took me a couple of listens to really connect with the song. It was a very different experience than the builds and drops and kick drums of the typical EDM type song. It felt a lot more introspective and emotional.
Your comment just reminds me to the good old days of streetmusic when nobody cares and then one little child smiles at you and looks in wonder at you and you know EVRYTHING is just right....
Yeah exactly...I just hope that you continue making new music...make it for you first, do what fits your taste. If you work hard on it and like what you've created then undoubtedly others will connect with it too. :)
~ good luck ~

Yes that makes sense ! :tu: Seems you understand my song and motivations better then I do

Emotion is really the key. And cause for me it felt difficult to bring that in this electronical form it might be a lot of confusing. And it dont help that my "musical knowledge" tends to be none existing....To be honest, I felt emotionally more comfortable with just a guitar or a band and my voice. But there are on one hand the limitations of evryday life which dont allow anymore for that kind of "real" music and on the other hand this universe of possibilities electronical music offers. Bands, Orchesters, evry real and not real imaginable sound, sequencers, composing tools....

Sometimes felt a little lost in there so it really means that much if I get that kind of feedback saying: o.k., its confusing, its hard to grab but at least I get the emotion...

Thats all that cares for me at least, Emotion.....

Phew!! That was hard work ... stonking tacks there, well done everyone ...

****** DoctorBob has VOTED *******

Chunks of 5's and 4's ... mainly 3's and a few 2's ... as per usual I have spread my votes, not using 1 as this is reserved for my meagre entry.

This time I tried to do it a different way. First arranging in terms of my musical preference. Then I checked all those in 2 and 3 to see if there were tracks where there were other elements (composition / mixing / mastering / sound design etc) which could then promote (or demote). I then checked my 4's and 5's to move a few around as well. I think I came to a nice arrangement of the tracks, with the 4's and 5's being tracks I would listen to over and over and thoroughly enjoy them time and time again.

Now I need to get my head down and see what I can do for Dexed - pretty much settled on a funk style to match the DX-7 era, but we'll see :-)

I've also voted. I was trying to reserve the voting until later after re-listening to everything a few more times, but I'll be out for a few days, so might as well call it.

As always, if anyone wants constructive criticism, feel free to PM me.

Great stuff this month, Synthmaster proved to be a pretty capable synth with great sounds and lovely presets! Glad I had an opportunity to learn it better and glad to have listened to many of your lovely entries.

Rearranged some of my votes.......see it all depends on the current mood.
I haven't really based my votes on anything technical cos I don't know enough about the production side of things so I've gone with the 'vibe' sure I can tell if something's clear or muddy and yes there are some great sounds in all the tracks and each has something to offer, there is a lot of talent on display here.
I'm sorry I haven't commented on tracks and really appreciate comments made on mine.
Hope to join in another OSC soon.
So again, good luck all.
