I haven't been keeping tabs on the Ableton website, so if anyone knows some of the things we can likely expect in Live 10 it would be great to hear about it.

things i'd like to see:
sandboxing plugins, a-la bitwig.

built in bit-bridge (though perhaps that plays into the sandboxing feature above)

latency/buffer corrected automation (...or just a complete and as close to flawless as possible implementation of PDC)

highest quality pitch-shift/time-stretch algos

native lfo/modulation devices (that can also send midi)... (the m4l solutions - while welcome - are resource pigs)

native patch/state/preset morphing

I'll add more as I think of them.

What features are you hoping for ? Both likely and unlikely...

Well, those things are rather minor fixes which wouldn't justify a new version.

I guess they have to come up with sth really new like online collaboration, harmony/melody assistants, renewed piano roll, dedicated mixer window, scoring editor.

I paid Ableton £120 to upgrade from Suite 8 and M4L to Live 9 Suite ... is that too much? If you'd upgraded a couple months back it was 20% off.

Personally I would like tosse more new effects and instruments since I like to work a lot inside Live without relaying on third party stuff.

They got the Glue as a native version, my dream would be to see The drop, valhalla verbs and some new synth.

Problem with everything being in live is for example there is a better updated version of The Glue but you have to buy the third party version. I would rather use third party for all effects and instruments then I get more updates and always the latest version.

For Ableton to return their focus to being far more about LIVE performance than a be all do all DAW. For me, that means:
- large improvements in managing user created presets/racks
- vast overhaul of the way that said presets can be recalled and loaded (glitch free!) into a set you are currently performing on.
- same as above but for audio clips (I've come to realize that unless you have the exact same track layout in every set (including track names), the audio clips cannot be batch selected and dragged from the browser into a current set, which means very little spontaneity is possible in a live setting)
- sandboxing would be welcomed
- updated suite instruments
- the ability to nest midi sequences and instruments inside of audio clips! Could make for some really cool launching capabilities.
- Reps from the company that actually interact with Ableton forum posters!

*Better Push integration with third party instruments and effects: Push is supposed to be about spontanaeity and creativity, but only if you've invested huge amounts of time making presets for your (non-native) stuff. Ableton should consider incorporating some of those third party scripts which have attempted to bridge this gap.
*Follow actions for scenes.
*As mentioned previously, native (non m4l) modulation devices.
*Faster project loading: Jesus, this can be slow, even on an SSD & plenty o' ram.

Interesting, Live with its flat and minimalistic design was way ahead of the trends, now MS and apple are adopting it and its pretty widespread in apps.

For me the GUI is one Ableton trademarks, no nonsense, makes working fast, no opening/closing windows all around.

In fact my most desired feature would be away forvthird party developers to design GUIs for their plug ins as Ableton devices: when you "configure" plug ins so that you can automate parameters form Live it gives you horizontal sliders. IF we just had the option to choose any kind of interface (knob, horizontal or vertical slider) in this "configure" section it would make a bif difference.Custom ones would be even better, that would make worflow supper streamlined.

My second biggest request is better metering options, RMS and VU in the main mixer would great, as well as colours in the meter levels. Of course choice of scale for the meter levels (dbFS, K12, K14, K120 and VU) would be a great compliment. Live already has meters between plug ins so adding colours there for any scale you choose would make gain staging super easy.

Couldn't disagree more. I prefer the GUI being neurtral. Not ugly (looking at you, majority of synth-edit plugins!), but neutral. I'd like to be inspired by more interesting things than DAW's GUI while making music.

oh, now that you mention it Rod - ^ this would be bad-ass !

the only other thing I'd like to see is some elegant-sort of native Melodyne-type of pitch correction

yep I also like its GUI, maybe should buy a monitor with IPS panel (got Dell S2340M) and put the eq to bigger view (and save it as track default)

I only miss the multi-track editor from BWS
