Well that was uncalled for.

No, i just dont want to lose more time with something stupid like your arguments. Shhh... some people.. better?
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Out of curiosity for those who have Saurus, as I own Rayblaster and Electra 2, what is the difference? What does Saurus bring to the table that the other two don't. And please Murnau, don't respond to this. Your outright rudeness and nastiness was not appreciated and I have no desire to read anything else you have to say.

Rayblaster works differntly, it is not the classic subtractive thingy.
Electra and Gladiator offer a lot of different synthesis methods, including subtractive, but they go way beyond that.

Saurus seems to be Tone2's most basic synth.

I find it strange that the 12db filter sounds more muted than the 24db filter.
I do nit know exactly what you mean but AFAIK the 12 dB and 24 dB Lowpass filters are two different models, not just a different slope. The 24 dB one should be more Moog like while the 12 dB is more "Oberheimish".

Saurus also offers some additional options to shape the sound like e.g. the "Tone" knobs in the oscillators and the "Soft" button" at the filter section. For more "vintage" sounds I usually use the Tone knobs at a value below center.

All I said was why would somebody recommend Diva when I clearly laid out what I was looking for?

I didn't call them a brain damaged person. There is a big difference so let's keep this in perspective.

No I think not... It's damn impolite to do what you did. So everyone has a right to get pissy with you as far as I'm concerned.

You act like a child. 'He called me brain damaged'... Life is hard get a helmet.

Fundamentally Saurus and Electra share a similar tone, but from there on it's very different. Saurus has a lot of ways to dirty up the signal, it behaves more like an analog synth in that it naturally tends to an organic sound.

Whats odd is that Saurus has this weird phase scrambled sound, even more so than Electra, which does help to make it sound interesting, but if you listen to a bare init patch it's really obvious. I think it would turn a lot of people off who want something authentically analog sounding.

The Tube effect is very good on Saurus, and it has real Unison, though it doesn't seem to be stereo?

IMO Saurus doesn't sound all that good with a raw saw init patch, but it quickly gets quite nice once you engage the filter and start programming it.

Well, I just listened to about a half hour of demos off the site. And while I think it sounds fine, it's in no way an analog sounding synth. In fact, it sounds like all their synths, with that plastic sound.

I mean one patch I'd swear was a modern supersaw if not a bit subdued. I don't recall being able to get anything like that out of an analog synth.

I know that they say on the site that this synth isn't an emulation, but to call it "analog" I think is a real stretch.

At least I don't hear it.

Here is your exact quote out of your own mouth.
I didn't found they sound really that "different" only better, warmer, bigger.
If it's better, warmer, bigger, then it's DIFFERENT.

You yourself said, not THAT different. But different non the less.

Therefore, I rest my case. V1 presets WILL sound different when played in the V2 engine, even if that only means, as in YOUR OWN WORDS...

BETTER...WARMER...BIGGER.

Some people. Sheeesh.
No it is not different in a way that i had to heavy rework them. You must have some mental issues obviously. Maybe a doc could help you? tho i am not sure could be it's probably inoperable.
Oh, that was real classy! Ad hominem AND increasing stigma and trivializing mental health.

Some of us are very sensitive to sound. I'd use the term OCD but that's become another over-used cliche that trivializes those with difficulties. So I'll just call it obsessive and compulsive about sound. If the slightest thing changes in a synthsound during mixing or composing, it can drive me mad. Sometimes, a setting deep in a synth can get changed due to an errant click or a glitch, and it can take me ages to find it, even though I can barely put my finger on what changed. I just know it's different - It can throw off the whole balance of a mix because some of us are going after very specific things and we know what we want. The balance between thin, cold, warm and big sounds is to me more important than blown up, overdrawn discussions of things like EQ and compressor settings. Getting the right sounds at source is key, and when you choose a sound, you chose it because it has THAT sound.

Perhaps I'm being silly but I still don't understand why a completely reworked engine version 2 sequel to a synth needs to have the same name .dll. Please tell me I'm missing something here because this seems totally bizarre - that should only happen to decimal point updates which expand on the engine without fundamentally changing it's sound. Perhaps this point was covered in this rather large thread and I just missed it.

I wouldn't mind checking out the demo, but I'm not faffing around with copying and renaming .dlls.

I am curious how that will be with the Sylenth update. If I remember that teaser correctly, it also said something about a tighter sound or something like that...

Agreed. Makes sense as Tone claim Saurus is based on modelled analogue circuits and components. I guess that's why I prefer its tone to other Tone2 synths. I found it more flexible than I expected.

If you are so concered about your master mix keep the dll as already mentioned. Some only want to argue without any substantial worth. Just for the sake. Better do some music instead. I am finished here but you please keep on with your hot air bla bla nobody really take care of. This rant about Tone2 is the lamest thing i heard this year. Good you decided not to get Omni2 wagtunes otherwise you would run into serious Problems.

Stop at the trite dancey presets and it's not the instruments' fault if they sound plastic-like and dull, go beyond, be a musician and they will repay your efforts.
