Spire has more preset packs available to purchase, and it is a fantastic synth. Overall quality of Spire is top notch, and it will cover almost any sound you might need for Melbourne bounce or EDM. If I had to pick one or the other, I'd go with Spire.yobare wrote:what will i need in my DAW best of those 2?
Spire is kinda expensive compare to ANA. but ANA have alot of cool waveforms i know this.
But wich one have most preset packs you can buy?
However, it's damn hard to beat ANA at the price. ANA is super flexible and if you want to start programming your own sounds ANA is a great choice. Sonic Academy's ANA is a solid choice and it will cover Melbourne bounce and EDM quite well. If price is your big issue, pick ANA.

the thing with ana is, it's practically dead. i mean the last update was like 2 years ago or so. plus the developers actually don't communicate if there will ever be a newer version/update/... at all. i owned and used ana quite some time, and the sound it pretty nice. however, what made me sell it was that the filter(s) seem to be somewhat poorly programmed - when automated slowly, you would hear rather small, but noticeable glitches - as if the filter "took a step" upwards. that was the plot killer for me.
you may pay almost double of the price with spire, but IMHO its totally worth it (if you wait for a sale, which they do quite regularly, the price isn't that much above ana actually. the sound of spire is incredible - if ana sounds nice, then spire sounds killer. you get a bunch of different synthesis-modes like wavetable, subtractive, even (rudimentary) fm. you get lots of great (and working!) filters, and some really cool vowel effects, too (which ana has too to be fair). also, reveal sound do update their synth every now and then and there is even a major (free) update planned for the month of may. so, if you ask me - do yourself a favor, save a little money on spire. you would probably want to get it anyway, because ana just has its limitations. but if you buy spire, you actually get the whole ana synth inside it with superior sound quality and the some
oh, and btw - spire has a LOT of waveforms, so thats no reason to prefer ana neither

Good points are brought, just gonna add, if you aren't that keen on sound design, quality of banks for Spire is just top, you are covered as far as that goes for sure

I'd suggest Spire too. It's extremely capable for EDM sounds as the sound demos also show.
(actually IMO the most capable synth atm) I didn't like ANA's filters very much when i tried it.

I own ANA and like it, though it's not my favourite synth by any means. If you want to learn to program synths, then ANA is a good choice. But I agree with everything Sim.Sky says about it. Go with Spire.

I'm very picky about filters when it comes to synths. A.N.A.'s are okay. They're not great. The sounds that it comes with are good. For the money, it's a decent synth, which is why I got it. But it's not even close to my favorite.
I don't own Spire but I've heard it plenty. It sounds better than ANA for sure, but IMO, not as good as Dune 2, which is $20 cheaper. I think Spire is overpriced considering it's only $10 less than Zebra 2, which IMO blows Spire out of the water sound wise.
If you can get Spire on sale, get it. If not, I'd still stay away from ANA. I think you'll be disappointed with it. As somebody said, it's been 2 years since any updates, the GUI is meh, the sound is good but not great and there are just better options.
Of course if money is really an issue, ANA will cover your needs at a base level.
Warning. If you do get it, most of the presets are programmed way too loud so turn down your speakers.

In the past Spire was over priced, I concur, but if they can pull off the update they say they are trying to in May it will be a camel replacement. I doubted the Reveal guys once and they proved me wrong. I won't doubt them again.
As far as ANA goes it's an incredible value and if you are doing edm (are they calling it melbourne bounce now lol) it is perfect for the job. It does the same kind of sample convolution Spire does. Spire is an incredible soft instrument, but you may not NEED that. Spire can be very cinematic, and that really doesn't suite the music. ANA can do the edm stuff very, very well.

Spire! Plus the update is on the way.
Spire, is one of the best soft synths around. It can sound huge when you stack up its Oscillators. Very nice overdrives as well.
Filters imo are good and easily on par with other soft synths.
Have a listen to some if its EDM banks and you'll see how good it is.

If you don't want to buy Hive or Dune 2, I'd go for Spire.
ANA is a good, yet not great bread and butter synth with some special waveforms but sound-wise it cannot compete with Spire which offers a massive unisono sound...

Really should be looking into Xfer Serum if you haven't already...seriously knock your socks of (own everything mentioned in the thread excluding Dune2 and Ana). Personally I'd say it does for EDM what the electric guitar has done for rock. Sure many will disagree but that's my personal opinion!
Whist I do like Spire and there's a shit load of presets out there for it. Serum will definately not dissapoint you.
I know there's a price difference but with the supplied waveforms and the ability for you to import your own waveforms (or 3rd party), plenty of scope for you own evolution of sound! The easy application and import of LFO's, noise and subs, midi ah...just do a demo of Serum and watch some tutorials before you part with your money.
If Serums out of your price pocket. I'd recommend settling for Spire.

TBH you probably really should be looking at hive. It will be the go to edm synth for the next few years. Just remember...half the people on this forum are trying to sell you something, so take that into consideration when asking for opinions here.Tricky-Loops wrote:If you don't want to buy Hive or Dune 2.

Is there anyone in this thread trying to sell for one of the companies mentioned? If so, I'd be very surprised.Dasheesh wrote:TBH you probably really should be looking at hive. Spire, Serum, Hive are all very solid choices. ANA is a great choice too, but Spire, Serum, Hive are superb. If I could only have one of the above, I'd probably go with Serum. Tough choice though.

No offence... but this sounds very much like it:Dasheesh wrote:

I mean.. it's still beta, there's yet no commercial soundsets for it and stuff, the whole reception is not sure yet.Dasheesh wrote:
