I see that now. That is what I get for posting with my first cup of coffee....sjm wrote:I'll be the first to admit the site is confusing, but the way I understand it (may be wrong), the $ 20 you're referring to is the discount off the regular upgrade price; i.e. $ 99 is the intro offer upgrade price. If I've interpreted it correctly, the upgrade normally costs $ 119 at regular price. So you're actually getting $ 50 off the intro price (which is $ 149) for the full version (i.e no upgrade path). Whether that means the full version will be $ 169 once the intro offer is over remains to be seen.dnekm wrote:The upgrade price is ridiculous. I bought it long ago @ GC for $99. It was on sale then and at the time I thought it was a really good deal. I think I installed it in the Leopard days so each update to OSX left things intact. It still works but I never use it anymore. Loved it once upon a time for loading single-cycle waveforms. Once I bought Alchemy I didn't use Rapture much anymore.
Like a few others I too find the combination of Rapture and Dim Pro a clever, if not smart, move. I like the idea of having a light weight rompler since I won't be installing SampleTank again anytime soon. However I do have a few issues:
1. There is no indication that it would be able to process several midi streams at once Like ST so as a rompler it's a bit limited.
2. What was once a really decent synth has been surpassed in features quite some time ago by many developers.
3. Even though I don't find $99 offensive, I can't understand that pricing scheme as a whole. As a Rapture owner my normal upgrade price is (will be) $119. A savings of $20 is not going to entice me into being an early adopter.
4. I haven't heard a sound yet that makes me want to upgrade.
For me there is no rush to get this one. At least not yet.

I'll be upgrading, even if it's buggy and will be updated rarely. Got Rapture and DimPro for $20 each, and I do use both on occasion, so this will replace those two with one unified instrument.
I know, I'm a sucker.. lol..

Is this thing Dim Pro, Rapture AND Z3ta+2 rolled up into one? If I can replace all 3 with this, it may well be worth it. But the upgrade price is a tad steep. Another $20 off for those who own all 3 might send me over the top.
Meantime, Cakewalk stuff goes on sale fairly frequently these days, so getting it later might be a viable option.

It may well be included in the next Platinum update as well. So it might be better to simply wait and let it be part of the 'feeling less of a sting' when they hit us up for that.BERFAB wrote: Meantime, Cakewalk stuff goes on sale fairly frequently these days, so getting it later might be a viable option.

Well, glad to see they finally updated that terrible browser. I think I own every Cakewalk synth, DAW, and plugin made in the past 12 years (including Sonar Platinum), and $79 still seems high for this upgrade. Meh, I don't use Rapture much anymore and I'm not terribly impressed by a gazillion new "Pro" presets/samples, so I'll save my money for now and maybe pick it up if/when it goes on sale for some no-brainer price (or not).

I think that seems very unlikely. They seem quite determined to roll out new non-bundled products.BBFG# wrote:It may well be included in the next Platinum update as well.
At least until next year when they realize that many long time users are choosing to not renew their membership/subscription.

Considering I bought Z3TA+2 for $100 and Rapture for $20, this upgrade price is complete nonsense.dnekm wrote:The upgrade price is ridiculous. I own Dimension pro, Rapture and Sonar and only get $20 off?
Further, the new "Pro" version -- and I do put that in quotes, as in their word and certainly not mine -- is an ugly looking thing. It really contains very little new over the original. The biggest change is in how they messed up a GUI that wasn't all that bad in the first place. Now it looks horrible and more confused/busy.
This is merely a con job and attempt to suck the bucks out of the synth-addicted, especially in a place such as KVR. More rational people will carefully avoid this silly new "Pro" offering as the rubbish it is.
BTW, I really like the real Rapture and Z3TA+2 just fine. Just don't like this foul creation.

Funny how tastes differ: I really liked the external browser and X/Y box/grid of Rapture. I always thought it was unique and not a bother to me in any way. After all, it's not up there in your face after you select a preset, so why complain about it?

Hmm, not having to deal with the horrible external browser might be worth it alone to update for me. I have enjoyed both plugins throughout the years, so I reckon I'll pick it up during a sale.

Will there be any tech support for this product? I recently discovered Z3ta+2 (AU) will crash Ableton Live9/64 bit but run in 32 bit. Went to their website to get tech support and discovered a new system which only supports selected products, and not Z3ta as far as I can tell!
(I did see in their knowledge base that for Live you need to install AU and VST3, but the latest Z3ta installer only seems to install the AU)

Well, I have Rapture and Z+2, so the decision is more like "should I spend $99 for DP sounds and a few new "Pro" sounds. The sound examples were not convincing, but then, the genre of them affected my perception. The video ended right when I thought the intro was over and the info was about to be shared. Would love to love this, but I'm not nearly there yet.

Yeah, what's up with that? Seems like a great idea though, but might get stomped on by the release of Omnisphere 2.EvilDragon wrote:I wish it were a cheaper upgrade for those owning both Rapture and DimPro, though...
