Probably, but I don't think that's a problem for a bigger vendor like Cakewalk/Gibson.Numanoid wrote:But would have to be licensed then?EvilDragon wrote:Probably used for samples in the patch.

Andromeda is analog, so what would they license? The picture?Numanoid wrote:But would have to be licensed then?EvilDragon wrote:Probably used for samples in the patch.
Don't tell IK. They've clearly got a Prophet-like pic in ST3 for some of the sampled sounds.

I got no big clue to that licensing bizness, just appears to me that if you use an image of a product in a commercial release, it is fair to pay some kind of fee for that.jsp1979 wrote:Andromeda is analog, so what would they license? The picture?

For all I know they could subscribe to Colourbox, and have sourced it from there.

Sampling analog is fine.
As for a the "picture", that's not a pic of the Andromeda. It's a pixelated rendering of a synth that looks like one. The idea is to make a pic that looks like it, but avoids copyright issues. IK does the same thing with the pics in the synth section of ST3.

I don't know, I really want to like this, but I just can't get excited about it. I have Sonar Platinum and qualify for $79 pricing, but still. Rapture always felt like editing a spreadsheet to me. Z3TA+ 2 was way more interesting. And oh, wow, a bunch of gigabytes of sample content that I don't need. I already have Komplete Ultimate, which provides ample sample material. If I wanted a ton of more samples, I would probably rather pony up for Omnisphere and at least get something interesting and worthwhile. The only reason I keep coming back to this is because of the entry pricing, but I just don't see how there is any point to it, even at a good price.
Besides, I already own an Alesis Andromeda.

I agree that Omnisphere is awesome and you can create almost anything in it but $250 is a high price to pay for a update.Ameyah Audio wrote:why? you have so many choice and really good sounds, not to mention the upgrade is free when you bought omni 1 after sept 2014.D-Fusion wrote:I don't find the upgrade price to big.
Omnisphere 2 price on the other hand is insane.
I know i will do the update because i love it so much but it won't happen for a while because of the price so Rapture Pro might come first.
Rapture Pro and Omnisphere would be a great combo since Rapture pro focuses on many sounds that is not possible in Omnisphere (Like workstation type sounds).

You are right. Cableguys only discounts the bundle when you buy some single products. Sorry, I forgot. "Off the top of my head" ain't what it used to be.chk071 wrote:Huh? Don't see where you get a discount at all for Cableguys plugin... do you mean the bundle?rustman wrote:Except maybe Fabfilter, PSP, or Cableguys, off the top of my head...

Hehe no problem.
Guess i also implied that just because i never saw such thing, it can't be existant, i'm sure it is. But i guess it's rather the exception, otherwise it would be more widespread.

So you are complaining over $99 upgrades.
I payed €250 for Dimension Pro alone, almost 10 years ago now - and still just scratched the surface of whats in there. I know I'm a slow scratcher, but still....
I'm mostly curious about if they did anything to upgrade audio engine with oversampling stuff or other enhancements - to make what I bought many years ago sound even better from scratch. That would make it a buy from me again.
For newcomers, $149 is a steal for Rapture Pro compared to what NI ever offered you with their Core xx, Komplete yy and I don't know what for much more money.

No, it isn't a steal, and you may as well say that a £1,000 PC today is a bargain because it would have cost £500,000 twenty years ago, even if you can buy the same PC for £500 today.
The first demo by that geezer (whoever he is) was dire - why would they use that to try to sell their product?
I have Dimension Pro and Rapture, I paid under £30 for each of them, and I would never buy this upgrade, as I don't really use either of them, and the upgrade price is too high.

Perception is skewed - I stand by my argument.
If you have neither DP or R - $149 for this package is a steal.
That's what I mean by "newcomer".
