They released their (IMO) awesome nuklear and went then underground. Last update was 3 years ago and no news since then. No deals no nothing. So does anyone know what happened to them?

The site is still up, they wouldn't pay for the hosting if they had shut down shop I believe:
http://www.hamburg-audio.de/
Could be that they do just like Lennar Digital, living well and quiet, selling a rock solid product
The deal with PreSonus could also be worth a bit to them.

I'm using the Beat version a lot, not very restricted.
Sounds great, low CPU usage, what's not to like about it ?

Oh I don’t think there’s something particular to not like it, it’s just a synth that went straight in the abyss after its release with very limited (near never) mentions of it in software forums. It’s just a synth without updates for years & and synth nobody seems to care, so I’m wondering if some people actually use that thing.

Why fix/update it when it works fine ?Neon Breath wrote:It’s just a synth without updates for years
Maybe you would like to pay for a quick shine upgrade to v 2.0 just to have an update

Why? To keep people interested and keep improving things and be at the top of their game. If I were a developer who invested a lot of time, energy and money, I would never let my product sleep on cruise control for years like that. But that’s just me…
( and I don’t even use nor own that synth)
That’s pretty much like a chef never updating his portfolio with fresh new recipes. It just gets old and uninteresting… Especially true if to begin with, people were not even interested…

Seriously now: on paper it looked rather unique and cool, but I couldn't make it sound distinct in a mix for the life of me. On its own sounds...let's say ok. But once you layer it up with other sounds/synths, it just gets lost. And there's that harshness about the sound no matter the tweaking... and I'm usually all up for dirty, distorted, fuzzy sounds - it's just that this one doesn't sound that musical... there were better options when this one got released, and certainly there are better options now...IMO, of course.

I do. I was one of the orignal Beta testers and factory sound designers...Neon Breath wrote:There's people really using that synth?
Still a very unique synth that actually is not very easy to program from scratch. I admit that in the last 12-18 months i did not spend as much time with it as i wanted, especially with programming new sounds for it.
For those who don't know Thomas Rehaag was involved with development.
Besides his own BazzISM synth he is also involved with Waldorf since a while.
This started with the development of the Waldorf Lector vocoder (before Nuklear was done and also later with updates for Laector )and recently he was/is also involved with the 64-bit/VST3/AAX updates for the Waldorf plugins and also with the Waldorf Edition 2 Beta.
FWIW the last version for Nuklear indeed seems to be v 1.1.4 from September 2012.
Plugin formats for windows are: 32-bit VST2, 64-bit VST2, 32-bit VST3, 64-bit VST3. Additionally for OSX the AU plugins (32-bit + 64-bit) are available (AU 64-bit seemed to be added with a later update).
Are there serious bugs that have to be addressed? I do not really have problems with the Windows version here.
I just opened in Cubase Pro 8.0.5 64-bit and works nicely there. still love the sound of it. Could be very "Ballsy" in terms of low end while it's "nature" is typically digital.
If the sound is too harsh there are 2 multimode filter that could be used in serial and parallel. For example you could add a HPF if the low end is too much (except if both filters are alraedy used). Of course you could also ad an external EQ if needed.
This year after re-installing my desktop PC i needed a new authorization and got it from Thomas (the Beta testers could not use the automatic feature from the website for re-authorization). I could contact him directly, no idea how well this works with the email addresses at the official Nuklear website or the contact form:

The contact address at the website seems to be the one from Thoams at his website (for his plugins like e.g. BazzISM):

At the official Nuklear website 5 free soundsets are available:

During the first Beta of Nuklear i created a lot of screenshots of the influence of most of the oscillator parameters on the waveshape. I had combined the results in this PDF:

I'm very interested in this synth. Love the sound of it. I might upgrade from the Solo edition this year
Well, I spent today reading about the Pulsar Synthesis. I can't say I understood everything! But, I had good idea about it. I wish more developers think of not very common synthesis like this one or the one they used in Scanned Synth Pro for example. It is very refreshing when hearing new sounds or feeling new characters.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

To be honest it was quite a headscratching at first to get it sound good but after getting in to the beast.. It was worth the timeidfpower wrote:FixedNumanoid wrote:Sounds grainy, CPU spikes, doesn't sit well in a mix, what's there to like about it ?![]()

Does anyone know if it's still possible to activate the Beat edition? Nuklear requires new codes after system upgrade, but http://beat.hamburg-audio.com/ doesn't work anymore.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Just contact support via their website.
They're pretty cool about helping you out.
I really do sometimes wish they'd ditch the activation thing, though.
it never stays the same, despite using disk images, etc for restore.
