Like many of you, I have mild tinnitus. I got the condition about 7 years ago.
For me, my ear's whistling around 16KHz can be more pronounced at various times, such as with a heavy cold.
But on most days I'm lucky that the condition is hardly noticeable: indeed, when I don't think about it, the effects are hardly present at all and my brain seems to filter out the whistling.

I appreciate that some people are much unluckier and have a more severe case of tinnitus, however.

It will certainly be interesting to see what progress develops with tinnitus treatment, and human brain studies, during the next couple of years.
