If you head over to the Looptalk Forum you'll have all of your questions answered through one of the 50 threads asking this question. It's very simple, you're going to hit yourself in the head once you realize that, just like most of us have.chaosWyrM wrote:i have to say...the new handling of plugins is f'ing horrible.
maybe im missing something...but all i want is the "add channel" drop down to actually list my plugins without spending 3 hours adding them individually by hand. i mean come on...can we at least get a batch function for this?
not only that, but now every plug in i have is listed in both the generator and effects sections of the plugin database.
ugh.
:edit: seriously...cant we just add an entire folder to the add channel/effect - insert/replace drop down lists? id settle for that.

If they're giving an error during the deepscan I don't think you should be concerned. Miroslav Philharmonik (One of the buggiest pieces of software) has an error during the scan but I did a regular scan, then added it to the database and it works.chaosWyrM wrote:now my problem is that fl12 seems to hate automap. id say 30% of automapped plugs are failing the scan...will they work anyway? i have no idea. even if they dont...ill delete and re do them...just means more down time.

thnx...seems that wasnt my real problem after all....the problem im having now is that they still dont show up after clicking the favorites box, that scanner seems scan everything over again even when you tell it not to and its slow as hell.Fidelitymusic wrote:If they're giving an error during the deepscan I don't think you should be concerned. Refresh the plugin list as you would do regularly, with deep scan unchecked. Now go into the Browser:
Plugin Database > Installed > Generators or Effects > VST.
Now if you find them there you can simply right-click them and flag them as a favorite.

yeah i know i can do that, thats exactly what im trying NOT to do. doing it that way will take hours...though at this point its been hours and i dont have anything.Fidelitymusic wrote:Refresh the plugin list as you would do regularly, with deep scan unchecked. Now go into the Browser:

meh...im going back to my original stance that this new plugin handling is f'ing horrible.

thanks, but again...thats precisely what i dont want to do.koalaboy wrote:Another video, if it helps, by SeamlessR :
the deep scan thing seems like it should work, but its not for some reason. it doesnt remember anything. it doesnt remember that i tick the favorite boxes, so if i run it...check a bunch of favorite boxes, and then run it again...its behaves as if its seeing everything for the first time and no boxes are checked. im guessing that the reason its doing that is the same reason the plugins dont show up in fl studio after i favorite them in the first place.
ok...really...going to bed. ill try again tomorrow.
thnx.

First of all! I think the v.12 update is awesome, so many great new features and improvements, wow! Thank you Image Line!!!
As far as the plugin handling goes. I mentioned this on the IL forums several times throughout the beta. I also think they made it completely counterintuitive.

The menu is not (and has never been, in past versions) there to list hundreds of plugins, that's what the browser's big list is for.chaosWyrM wrote:i have to say...the new handling of plugins is f'ing horrible.

The menu/picker is for *favorites*, and a plugin isn't likely to be one of your *favorites* if you can't be arsed to open it at least once, so that FL can save your *favorite* preset along with it, a screenshot, and put it in your defined category.

we haven't made anything new here, the plugin database has been there since at least 2007 - you had 8 years to adapt to it. Made no sense to preserve 2 different list of plugins in the same app.218 wrote: I mentioned this on the IL forums several times throughout the beta.
