Don't tell me we have another tone 2 on our hands

similar experience , didn´t downloaded it via command center , downloaded the files from my account and installed it !

you can point where presets are installed but the Multisamples goes to C:\Cakewalk Content\Rapture Pro\Rapture Pro\Multisamples

you can´t choose the install path for multisamples , even after editing the registry it gots installed there and needed to move the multisamples folder manually

and i don´t want talk about "the old" Rapture and Dimension Pro Expansions migration

simple lost my words that they really put it out to the world in this way

Glad I stayed far away from this one..... Hope they fix the issues very soon...

Will take a major amount of time to restore, and I hope I still have the installers for all the recent stuff (older stuff backed up, thankfully). Really bad news - I guess you have to install into an empty directory.
To be fair to Cakewalk, you won't be needing those libraries anyway after installing Rapture Pro - it's so good. They just saved you some time you would have otherwise spent deleting them yourself. :ud:

I just installed the plugin itself using CC (to get the authorisation right) and manually d/l'd and installed all the expansions, seems ok here.

All the files are all rarsfx archives, so you can also test the integrity of them using 7zip etc to make sure the downloads are intact before installing.

Only glitch I've found is whilst it imported the .prog files for 3rd party presets in dimension pro/rapture into the new 'legacy' folders, if the program used custom/3rd party sfz files it didn't bring them over, so the patch would be silent. Most noticable with things like muz3eum for rapture - had to copy the folder for them from the old rapture location (c:\program files(x86)\cakewalk\rapture\multisamples to the new multisamples location for rapture pro, ditto for the dim pro DSF libraries.

If you think bout it a little, it makes sense. Rapture Pro looks for Multisamples ONLY in the path define on the first installation. Therefore, you'll need to copy all the samples into there, or the programs won't make any sound.

and it's not in the trashcan either!!!!!!!!!!
The techno-peasant who wrote the install script probably checked to see if the folder existed and if so, did an 'rm -rf'… After all, what could possibly be in the install directory except a prior install of his own software?

Which is bad enough, but where was the Q/A department?
jackmazzotti wrote:you also need admin permissions to add or delete anything from that folder
but cakewalk apparently found a way around that and deleted everything
That, at least, is nothing unusual -- most install scripts on the Mac ask for your password, presumably so they can run the 'sudo' command (to be able to write into system directories, etc).

It seems Cakewalk haven't changed that much under Gibson's watch then. I'm rather inclined to wait a little while now, hopefully there will be a bugfix before the beta-discount period is over.

Interesting - on the Mac it's the reverse (which actually makes more sense, given the size of the samples folder).

as i said downloaded and installed manually from account , its the way i said above (completly strange)

started command center it says its not installed with the red light (even if i have installed them manually before)

that i don´t needed to dl everything again i moved the installer to the Cakewalk Command Center Download Folder

closed Command Center , reopened again and installed it via Command Center again , and now i can choose the MultiSamples Path where i want install them , now also it works so far

conclusion manually install without command center does not worked correct for me , it seems a bug between manually installation and command center installation , even if cakewalk has said that manually installation are the same

That stinks that you are having install issues. I just checked my /library/audio/presets folder after my install all of my folders and presets are still there. Audio Damage, Sonic Charge, Soundhack, u-he, and xFer Records. I'll report this to Cakewalk but I can't reproduce it.

It seems to depend on your install folder for the samples (the one you typed into the Command Center), which in his case was the presets folder. I installed on an external HD, so I didn't see this problem, either.

The file /Library/Preferences/com.cakewalk.commandcenter.plist (or one of the other CW .plist files) should tell you the install folder. If you're trying to reproduce the bug, you probably want to copy some stuff into a temp folder and change the folder in the .plist file to install there, to see if it wipes out the folder contents.

I installed only Rapture Pro from Command Center first (using Windows).
I got an option in the installer to set a path for the content (no such option in the CC for me).
All samples were installed there correctly afterwards when I installed the sample packs.
Only drawback: It seems you can't multiselect the samplepacks in CC, so I needed to install one by one.

I copied all my old user content (programs) into the "User" Subfolder of the Rapture Pro/Programs folder and all the accompanying samples to Rapture Pros Multisample folder.
Works fine with Universal 120, Muz3um, Digital Sound Factory etc.

A lot of missed opportunities in this update but it's at least better in some areas than those two oldtimers.
But overall Cakewalk needs to do much better to really attract the crowds IMO ;-)

Cheers,

Tom

I should not have called anyone "idiots". That was wrong of me. Deleting computer files without a users permission is what malware does. I have never heard of a software synth installation doing this before. My advice is do not use command center at all. Both z3ta and rp crash live instantly in 64 bit. Not a good way to start out new synth releases.

I'm sure they'll come up with a fix in about 6 months or so, which is warp speed in the Cakewalk space-time dimension.
